Haqqani and Hekmatyar were considered real good guys then, U. What's the matter, U.? WMU? Now they are right wing extremists who murder women and rape children and stand for misogyny in the extreme. Hekmatyar was throwing acid in the faces of female university students before waging anticommunist jihad with the Americanos backing them. Real scum of the earth for sure.

Lucky we're right in there saving the Afghan people from these scum of the earth. Or do you want the murderers and rapists and acid-throwers in the "legit peace talks" too? Or would you exclude them? And will you allow the U.S. and Canada and NATO to participate? Because they don't murder and torture and rape, now, do they? And how about Karzai and his Northern Alliance friends? Can they participate?

Gonna be a tough call when the Afghan people send us that email asking us what they should do next and who should decide their fate... Better get the list ready.

The Taliban have no intentions of overthrowing their friends in Kabul only to join them in phony power after even more oppressive anti-female and anti-Afghan decrees are agreed to and made law of the land.

The truth is that neither Karzai nor the Taliban mullahs have broad based support among Afghans. Their only power comes from US support. The US is aiding and abetting both sides of this tiff between right wing extremists to see which of them wins a Darwinian battle of extremists. They are only jockeying for better positions at the bargaining table. They plan to ignore the other 80% of legitimate anti-US resistance in Afghanistan.

Ya I know, He spews the same pro-USA cold war era rhetoric every time. Senator Charlie Wilson never died. It's too bad his freedom fighters turned out to be asshole deluxes and right wing extremists same as him and his friends in Warshington.

Fidel

Nick K is deluding himself. The Taliban are right wing extremists created by Warshington. Everyone from Hillary to Bob Gates has admitted it since 2001. I'm not sure why Canadians have a difficult time understanding this fact.

The Taliban have no intentions of overthrowing their right wing extremists friends who wear suits in Karzai's kleptocracy.

There is no point to this war. The US Military has no intentions of defeating the Taliban.

In fact, none of the right wing extremists will defeat the other.

This is a phony war that should be ended now. This phony war is costing the precious lives of ordinary Afghans and as Malalai Joya says, they are taking the time to physically eliminate the real democrats in Afghanistan while shutting out democratic voices in the process of carrying out illegitimate peace talks that are ongoing since years ago according to Afghan and Pakistani sources

[ETA:I recommend  taking what certain other babblers say about this with a grain of salt,  because they are here in Canada and the phony peace talks have been taking place in Afghanistan. They see things in black and white when in this case, they clearly are not and haven't been since the start of US interference in Afghanistan 30 years ago.

And then there are those whose only interest in this is to persuade people against Jack Layton and the NDP's anti-war platform concerining legit peace talks to end the organized murder in Afghanistan.]

Legitimate talks lead to legitimate results. That's not true of phony illegit peace talks designed to create the appearance of peaceful intentions among warmongering right wing extremists profiting handsomely by kick-back, graft, drug trafficking and gun running.

Same thing. Would we have supported southern Confederates and "red legs" during the US civil war? Not me. I have more respect for women and children and African-Americans as well as millions of ordinary Afghans enduring a living hell today as a result. As Unionist says, lest we forget.

How many times does the IEA Afghan resistance movement  have to restate there are no peace talks in which their part of 'The Taliban' are involved in, nor will they entertain such  until the foreign invaders and occupiers leave their land? The creation of 'phony illegitimate peace talks' is a creation of NATO, the Americans, and for some reason you Fidelio to buttress your increasingly dodgy claim that all sides are just US forces in different getups.

Fidel

The Taliban have no interest in you knowing that they have no intentions of overthrowing their friend hamid karzai or their "brothers in creed" the very pro mujahideen war crims in power in Kabul. They certainly don't want anyone thinking this is a phony war, or that thousands of innocent people have died for SFA and that misery and persistent siutation of grinding poverty and organized murder is totally pointless. And this will become clearer as time progresses with more death and destruction and reports of NATO-Taliban tea parties taking place in stately get togethers in Kabul and in the swanky hotel rooms of Islamabad. It will only become more embarrassing for those backing Afghan Confederates and their brothers in creed who wear suits in Kabul.

lol!

I am able to dig up news stories like this from the NYTimes to RAWA and other Asian country sources dating back several years. I think it would be very condescending of white male Canadians to suggest that Afghans themselves don't know what's been happening in their own country for the last 30 years. I certainly do take the word of right wing extremists in the Taliban as well as those of clued-up anti-NDP babblers at prima facie value and definitely not more favorably than the opinions of the people directly affected by this 30 year-old US led quagmire in Afghanistan. That's for darned sure.

There are no Afghan women present at these illegit peace talks between right wing extremists. These phony peace talks have been ongoing between phony enemies for years according to real Afghans and Pakistanis.

None of Karzai's political opposition have been present in phony peace talks with the Taliban who are "brothers in creed" according to Malalai Joya and women of RAWA.

The Taliban have no intentions of overthrowing their friends in Kabul only to join them in phony power after even more oppressive anti-female and anti-Afghan decrees are agreed to and made law of the land. Both the US-led forces and 20% of the resistance constituting the Taliban understand that this "war" is unwinnable by either side. It's just a very lucrative venture for US and Canadian crooks laundering taxpayers money in Afghanistan. And the Taliban are growing rich, too. They love phony war and all.

The truth is that neither Karzai nor the Taliban mullahs have broad based support among Afghans. Their only power comes from US support, and the Americanos know that in this way they can control the Taliban and warlords all. The US is aiding and abetting both sides of this tiff between right wing extremists to see which of them wins a Darwinian battle of extremists. They are only jockeying for better positions at the bargaining table. They plan to ignore the other 80% of legitimate anti-US resistance in Afghanistan.

Our troops are cannon fodder as is typically the case when war on democracy is waged. It's not true that our troops are there to defend the rights of women and children. But neither is your advocating for continuation of phony war doing much for human rights in Afghanistan.

And I can find as many pieces that confirm no talks with known Taliban leaders have occurred - you have a theory and you torture the actual facts to fit this. The Taliban daily grow in strength, are widely supported by the people of Afghanistan, and will bury this enemy in the gravyard of empire. There is no reality to your contention of NATO-Taliban 'tea parties'. It would be more productive for you to concern yourself with the false phony and pretended anti-war stance of the pro-NATO NDP instead.

The Fake Taliban Is An Embarrassment to NATO

http://afpak.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2010/11/23/fake_taliban_real_embarr...

"Mullah Omar, who leads the one group of Taliban fighters based in Quetta has insisted from the beginning that the talks last month were not taking place. At the time, Filkins had written that Omar was being 'explicitly being cut out' of the talks. Now it seems that is because the talks weren't occurring.."

That's baloney. 90% of the resistance is localized tribal groups, some of who actually oppose the Taliban and even other groups but are generally united against the fascist invaders from 36 countries friendly to NATO. But Taliban religious edicts(they are Afghan-Arabs afterall) often go against the grain of various tribal codes in Afghanistan ie. Pashtunwali is often considered at odds with various extremist Taliban laws).

But which of the resistance groups do you imagine the CIA, MI6 and ISI have been talking to on the sly? Karzai's political opposition?  Or the other 80% of legitimate anti-US resistance?

Hint: The CIA and US taxpayers created them and continue fomenting spread of right wing fundamentalism throughout Central Asia by funding the madrassa system to the tune of many millions of dollars every year.

You don't have to back the NDP for the peace plank on Afghanistan. But you don't have to be a dupe for the CIA-ISI or their right wing extremist friends in the Taliban either. Because without the US taxpayers and Saudi billionaires, none of those guys would have reasons to whistle Dixie either.

Well this is impressive Fidel.  You've somehow managed to obtain an advance copy that no one else has seen, except for an ever so brief glimpse a few weeks ago when Layton mentioned something in the house about getting the hell out of there, troops and all.

Fidel

Another expert comments on the situation in Afghanistan as well as the NDP in the same post. They're coming out of the woodwork these days.

Malalai Joya wrote:
We need the helping hand of the international community to support the future of Afghanistan to fight the fundamentalism of the Taliban and the Northern Alliance.[...]

Today, I'm a candidate for my people. It is better for me to be there even if I'm alone. We have fascist fundamentalists that are like Hitler, Khomeini and Pinochet here in Afghanistan. They will be candidates and will be in power, fully supported by the U.S. "war on terror".

Let's hear some more anti-NDP rhetoric from clued-up white people in the Northern Puerto Rico with a few polar bears and moose pasture.Us clued up white people know all about getting rid of brutal colonizers and the same US corporatocracy embedded here that wants a slice of Afghanistan hacking off for themselves. Because they seem to know more about what's happening in Afghanistan than Afghans themselves.  People of Afghanistan take note from the experts on how to rid your fair country of US corporatocracy.
