Actually the official story (or one of the official stories, at any rate) is that under torture KSM gave up the name of the "courier" that the U.S. death squads followed around for five years until he led them to bin Laden.

Not true according to John McCain and CIA director Leon Panetta:

Quote:
"The first mention of Abu Ahmed al-Kuwaiti - the nickname of the al-Qaeda courier who ultimately led us to bin Laden - as well as a description of him as an important member of al-Qaeda, came from a detainee held in another country, who we believe was not tortured. None of the three detainees who were waterboarded provided Abu Ahmed's real name, his whereabouts or an accurate description of his role in al-Qaeda."

Whomever fingered the courier, CIA claimed previously that the information wasn't produced by torture. So if the inquisition believes their own lies, then torture still isn't an effective method for discovering truth. They could always waterboard themselves as a check. And we know they are lying whenever their lips move.

What courier? What did they do with Elvis' body? It's a pack of lies. They are pathological liars not to be trusted any farther than we could throw them.

It's too bad they ran out of satellite time with Richard Gage in California. I think Jonathan would not have kept up with Gage on the evidence for controlled demolitions. He's written a juvenile book focused mainly on name calling and smears of truthers sooner than discussing evidence. He even thinks the US feds were being straight up about the Gulf of Tonkin incident. He's another coincidence theorist, which is an interesting POV but not very rational or logical where science or truth and justice are concerned. Apparently Jonathan is a very trusting person to the point of having a naive view of the world and history in general. He sees major historical evensts as either black or white without the controversial grey in between, and that's not reality. He's supposed to be a journalist, but even journalists are curious and truth seekers - Jonathan is neither.

You know, I'm all for slinging shots at people who take pictures like that. Contextually, it was just to make fun of Fidel - and I think around here there is quite a bit of give and take with that. Heck, I'd say what he did is loads more clever than most of the jibes that get toss about in these parts. However, I do not get where this 'cruelty to animals' thing is coming from? The guy may be banned, but I'd never attach the term 'cruelty to animals' to a person's picture without very, very good cause.

You're not being "counter-revolutionary".  TO do that, you'd actually have to be making a coherent case against whatever it is you think "the Revolution" is and for an alternative course of action.  Rather than do that, your posts are just endless variations of the them of "you lefties are fulla crap".

They need to show how technologically the security services worked, how each step was controlled, and then present it as a great victory to show that taxpayers are not paying taxes for nothing," he said.

Washington announced on May 2, 2011 that Bin Laden was killed by US forces in his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

The lack of transparency over bin Laden's death has cast further doubt over the announcement.

That makes some sense for me. After the contract jobs in Bosnia and Macedonia, bin Laden and Al-CIA'da go on to fight for the CIA in Chechnya where he dies of natural causes by 2006. They dig up his body and destroy the remains. Use Elvis bin Laden's fake death in a major announcement to prop-up Wall Street's boy Obama bin Lyin to Americans at a more politically expedient time.

I don't think so. I find it hard to believe the mostly right-wing minded special forces community would keep their mouths shut and let Obama get the credit for killing bin Laden when, if you believe this story, he doesn't deserve it. They might be tight lipped but I really doubt they'd all be tight lipped about that. Especially when some of you guys are flying the other conspiracy the team was then killed off in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan (which it wasn't). There's no way everyone in the SF community that was in the know (and there would be a bunch more than just the actual assault team that went in) would stay silent about something like killing off their own just to cover a conspiracy like that to make Obama look good and thus improve his re-election chances. No fucking way...

File this one under PressTV (Iranian state media) bullshit...LOL

NDPP

Although it may be automatic and habitual for the Yanqui to blame Iran for everything these days - the story actually comes from a Turkish political figure, Berkan Yashar, interviewed originally by Russia's Channel One. You will find the story widely reported in various international media. As for who, if anyone, they killed in Pakistan and disposed of in the ocean - who knows? But of course your government never lies.

Because there's no fucking way Special Forces, the CIA, or any other secret organization would ever countenance operating outside the norms of established social behaviour.  The Phoenix Program was just another conspiracy theory.  And there's no way a lifetime of pounding rocks at Leavenworth as the least of the available cures for loose lips would chance to persaude members into sticking with the club.  Its for the ultimate good of the country after all.  Isn't that what they told the Einsatzgruppen?  Given the right conditions people are capable of anything.

Berkan Yashar is a politician and former CIA agent from Turkey. Turkey, Iran, close enough, Bec. You remember Turkey, that cold war friendly used as a nuclear missile base up to the time of the Cuban missile crisis?

Oh and that story about Hillary and Obama watching them takedown bin Laden from satellite video feed to the "situation room"? It didn't happen according to the Wall Street government themselves. Yep, that was another embellishment by lapdog newz media.

True but I still say there's no way every SF or military person involved would cover up such a lie like that... And yes, even in your example, the Phoenix Program was exposed by some of the soldiers' involved in it. The same thing would happen here. As you said, given the right conditions people are capable of anything, that includes doing the right thing as well as the wrong thing.

Also under UCMJ an order to cover up such a lie would not be legal and a soldier couldn't be put in prison for exposing it. That and he'd be a Republican hero; you can bet on that.

Bin Laden was killed in that raid and his body was buried at sea. Even his own organization and his wives whom were there say he was killed in the raid and the soldiers took his body; if you believe otherwise more power to you.

Fidel

Bec, I think you believe because you wanna believe. lol!

Bec.de.Corbin wrote:

This is a myth. The burial at sea is like a Japanese horror flic about a giant monster who is eventually banished to the sea for all time. All evil serpents end up banished to a watery grave at some point. And so goes the legend of Usama bin Laden and "Al-Qa'eda."

Bec, they didn't even want him for 9/11. They changed horses and said that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is the "9/11 mastermind."

And just so you know KSM will be given a kangaroo trial at Gitmo. I think Stalin's show trials were about as legit. Americans are lied to constantly, Bec. 9/11 was more than likely an inside job to launch a new round of warfiteering and great game maneuvering. Sorry but that's all it was. Cold warriors have lied and deceived the public before. It's a pattern since at least Gulf of Tonkin, a lie that led 58,000 Americans to their deaths in Vietnam. Vietnam was a huge success for the warfiteers who profited wildly. Afghanistan and Iraq was just another warfiteering extravaganza based on lies and deception. Oops they did it again and will continue pulling the wool over your eyes if you let them.

SEAL book raises questions about bin Laden's death

Quote:

A firsthand account of the Navy SEAL raid that killed Osama bin Laden contradicts previous accounts by administration officials, raising questions as to whether the terror mastermind presented a clear threat when SEALs first fired upon him.

Bin Laden apparently was hit in the head when he looked out of his bedroom door into the top-floor hallway of his compound as SEALs rushed up a narrow stairwell in his direction, according to former Navy SEAL Matt Bissonnette, writing under the pseudonym Mark Owen in "No Easy Day." The book is to be published next week by Penguin Group (USA)'s Dutton imprint.

Bissonnette says he was directly behind a "point man" going up the stairs in the pitch black hallway. "Less than five steps" from top of the stairs, he heard "suppressed" gunfire: "BOP. BOP." The point man had seen a "man peeking out of the door" on the right side of the hallway.

The author writes that bin Laden ducked back into his bedroom and the SEALs followed, only to find the terrorist crumpled on the floor in a pool of blood with a hole visible on the right side of his head and two women wailing over his body.

And then after burying the evidence at sea, they circulated some fake photos of Elvis bin Laden's body on the internet for effect so as not to offend Muslims.

Obama Says "Justice Has Been Done": Bin Laden Scholar Says No

Quote:

It has been widely assumed that, if bin Laden is now dead, the person most responsible for the 9/11 attacks has been brought to justice. But the US government has never provided evidence that the attacks were carried out by bin Laden and his al-Qaeda organization.

In September 2001, Secretary of State Colin Powell promised to provide this evidence, but the next day recanted, saying "most of [the evidence] is classified."

In October, Prime Minister Tony Blair provided evidence that bin Laden and al-Qaeda planned and executed the 9/11 attacks. But he added:

"This document does not purport to provide a prosecutable case against Osama Bin Laden in a court of law."

Classified! As in hence the kangaroo military trials at Gitmo introducing the latest patsy, KSM, who fought for the CIA in 1980's Afghanistant. Military dictatorships are like that. What the American people don't know can't hurt 'em.

Did torture help lead to bin Laden?

Editor's note: Peter Bergen is CNN's national security analyst, a vice president at New America and professor of practice at Arizona State University. He is the author of "Manhunt: The Ten-Year Search for bin Laden -- From 9/11 to Abbottabad," which this piece, in part, draws upon.

(CNN) -- Did waterboarding and other coercive interrogation techniques that were used on al Qaeda detainees in CIA custody eventually lead to the Navy SEAL operation that killed Osama bin Laden in Pakistan early in the morning of May 2, 2011?

The Senate Intelligence Committee report released Tuesday has a simple answer to that: Hell, no!

According to the Senate report, the critical pieces of information that led to discovering the identity of the bin Laden courier, Ahmed al-Kuwaiti, (Ahmed the Kuwaiti) whose activities eventually pointed the CIA to bin Laden's hiding place in Pakistan, were provided by an al-Qaeda detainee before he was subjected to CIA coercive interrogation, and was based also upon information that was provided by detainees that were held in the custody of foreign governments. (The report is silent on the interesting question of whether any of these unnamed foreign governments obtained any of their information by using torture.)

Further critical information about the Kuwaiti was also provided by conventional intelligence techniques and was not elicited by the interrogations of any of the CIA detainees, according to the report.

Even worse for the CIA -- which has consistently defended the supposed utility of the interrogation program, including in the hunt for bin Laden -- a number of CIA prisoners who were subjected to coercive interrogations consistently provided misleading information designed to wave away CIA interrogators from the bin Laden courier who would eventually prove to be the key to finding al Qaeda's leader.

The Senate report provides the fullest accounting so far of the exact sequence of intelligence breaks that led the CIA to determine that the courier, the Kuwaiti, was likely to be living with bin Laden in Pakistan.
