Nope, it just gets rid of the attributes.  When I press "edit" above, it will display the post as having a downsized photo that's rendered to the left (with the following text on the right of the image), but upon presentation it gets rid of those attributes.

Two things:

1.  it seems that old UBB links to images don't work, even as NEW links do -- this probably isn't that urgent, but it does sort of kill any legacy threads that reference images

2.  how shall babblers alert the mods to inappropriate posts?  Mods have said many times "we need babblers to to let us know if a post violates the AUP, because we can't be everywhere at all times".  This makes sense, but without means to alert mods, what shall we do?  I think this IS actually kind of important.  It doesn't have to be a special button -- even a working e-mail addy would do, but right now the Contact page still basically says "Access Denied".

Actually, it says:

The best way to reach us is through e-mail via the contact form below.

There's no such form.

It also says:

I worry that if some spammer is running amok, perhaps sending a link via a handwritten letter with a Canada Post stamp may not be timely.  Not to mention costing me a dollar.

Seems like mobile works. I don't need to 'backdoor' my way in, and it even seems I can post. Formatting is still a bit hooped, but all the words are there.

When I tried to log back in, my Firefox red-flagged the password connection as being insecure. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Can any staff member speak to the issue of password security when logging in?

Probably the best way to contact the moderator would be to message me. I check my messages regularly.

Did you want to update your password?

Okey dokey on the messaging.  That makes sense.

Here's just a curious question:  in the top right, just to the left of my name and the "Log out" link, is a number.  Right now it says:

0 / 5

Anyone know what this means?  Hovering over it or clicking on it gives no clues.

It would appear that no staff member can "speak to the issue of password security when logging in".  I pointed out this feedback from Firefox in post #114, stating that upon signing in with my current user name and password, that Firefox would notify me of this issue (see link).  And no, I don't want to "update [my] password".  I'm just, as was A24, pointing out this alert that Firefox gives.

Does anyone recall whether rabble/babble used to have a "secure" (SSL encrypted) URL?

For the non-nerds, that basically amounts to, "did the URL start with http://rabbleblahblahblah or https://rabbleblahblahblah"?

I'm not asking about changing my password. I'm asking why Firefox tells me that the website is not secure whenever I go to the login screen to type it in.

Re: post #160

I believe not.  As I've previously mentioned, it's a new feature on Firefox.  I assume if this feature had been present years past in Firefox, that the same warning would have come up.

Mr. Magoo Mr. Magoo's picture

Probably.  I could surely be totally wrong, but I have no memory of rabble/babble ever encrypting.

Without changing hosts, the cost of an SSL certificate (which would permit this encryption, and make rabble/babble 'secure') would be about $150/year.  It could be that rabble/babble doesn't really need that, in that they're not collecting highly confidential information or financial information.  Which isn't to say that having a password compromised wouldn't be a big problem, but if some babbler suddenly starts going on and on about football tickets or the Tea Party, we can probably deal with that on a case-by-case basis.
