It is a great pity that the people who are being listened to in your country are the ones who are making huge profits – at your expense!

When our health care system was being introduced more than fifty years ago now there were also great arguments — along the same lines as in the U.S. now.   But the most important point, the one that was stressed time and time again and got through to people was that no one should die or suffer because they did not have enough money to pay for medical attention.

In my small, nuclear family over those past fifty years, there have been several occasions when special medical help was needed: for bladder surgery for my younger son, massive heart surgery for my husband, child birth in my own case and other smaller events — none of this cost me money beyond my medical premiums and if this health care had not been available we would have been bankrupt!   I have always been able to choose my own doctor and have always been able to access good medical care when it was needed.   *Don’t listen to the profit-seekers and the fearmongerers — it is your health and your life and it is in *your* hands now!*
