The City of Toronto’s executive committee is meeting today (Core Service Review — Final Executive Meeting) to debate which city programs should face budget cuts — a $100 million in potential service cuts.

Two major areas where cuts were feared, library hours and daycare subsidies, are now considered all but safe.

All expect this meeting to run as another 24 hour marathon, similar to July 28, 2011, meeting. Deputations started this morning and it is standing room only. Over 300 people are expected to make deputations during the day.

Activists fear Rob Ford’s cuts would devastate Toronto’s vibrant communities, with cuts to daycares, community centres, public housing, libraries, parks, and shelters for the homeless.

Here’s a solid, factual list of what is at stake regarding potential budget cuts.
