Mass Rally to Stand in Solidarity Against Kinder Morgan Pipeline – Today

The Deets:

Monday November 17, 2014

3:00 pm PST

300 Centennial Way, Burnaby

British Columbia

The Call Out:

Fwd: *You do not risk arrest simply by attending this event!*

Kinder Morgan was granted the injunction to remove people standing up to the pipeline. It can be enforced starting 4PM Monday. (Which may, or may not happen.)

We're having a mass rally to stand in solidarity with those who have been and are taking a stand against the pipeline.

Let's gather on the mountain in big numbers and be ready for the injunction so we can be ready to bear witness and send a clear message that injunction or not, Kinder Morgan is not welcome in our community!

**You will not risk arrest simply by being on the mountain. There will be cl...early marked areas where you can be to stand in support and not risk arrest if this is a priority for you.***

For those who work during the day, we will be gathered there until at least 6:30PM, and some will be staying later, or even overnight. (You are welcome to do so.)

Here is a similar event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1494046207540348/

If you are keen to organize your own event to get people to the mountain, you are encouraged to do so! Please just make sure that you're familiar with the legal ins and outs of this situation, and that you take responsibility for convening people in this space by making sure that they are as well.

This event will be held on Unceded xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) territories.

Accessibility:

This event will be held outside. There is a flat road and parking lot in the area, but we cannot guarantee that those areas will remain constantly open to the public. The nearest wheelchair accessible washroom is likely SFU.

Thank you for reading this story…

More people are reading rabble.ca than ever and unlike many news organizations, we have never put up a paywall – at rabble we’ve always believed in making our reporting and analysis free to all, while striving to make it sustainable as well. Media isn’t free to produce. rabble’s total budget is likely less than what big corporate media spend on photocopying (we kid you not!) and we do not have any major foundation, sponsor or angel investor. Our main supporters are people and organizations -- like you. This is why we need your help. You are what keep us sustainable.

rabble.ca has staked its existence on you. We live or die on community support -- your support! We get hundreds of thousands of visitors and we believe in them. We believe in you. We believe people will put in what they can for the greater good. We call that sustainable.

So what is the easy answer for us? Depend on a community of visitors who care passionately about media that amplifies the voices of people struggling for change and justice. It really is that simple. When the people who visit rabble care enough to contribute a bit then it works for everyone.

And so we’re asking you if you could make a donation, right now, to help us carry forward on our mission. Make a donation today.
