Capitalism Will Save Us All

In response to the rabble article about the evils capitalism as declared by 3rd world dictators and socialists: I'm assuming and hoping you don't agree with this declaration against capitalism and for socialism; read: against freedom and for coercion.  A fatherly instinct is necessary for those of us who are fathers.  But only for us and only toward our own kids until they reach about 12-18; and then, what little coercion should be exercised parent to child, miniscule though it might have been, ends.  Coercion, the initiation of force is inappropriate and immoral in any other relationship of any kind.

Capitalism is what made America surpass everyone else so quickly.  That growth and prosperity was slowed by Hoover, FDR and Wilson beginning in the early 1900s with continued addition of roadblocks in the 60s and today, with only a brief respite during Reagan.  These south american 3rd worlders should be saying, "Thanks." to us.  Intead, they follow freedom's detractors' example and whine about the environment.  "The earth's needs over humanity's need, except for the poor's needs...rich industrialists needs below all"  People like this, in and outside our country couldn't exist without rich industrialists.  Capitalism "imposes" nothing.  It offers values in exchange for values and everyone benefits.  Taking from the productive and giving it to the non-productive benefits no one, as evidenced by our current global economy.  Has no one read "Atlas Shrugged?"  Shrug away, I say.  We"ll no longer burden you with the prosperity we bring.  We"ll leave you to wallow in your vaunted "culture" of socialism until you die from starvation if not sooner; when you discover there's no one to create the values you so voraciously consumed, no one left to rob.

Milton, is that you back from the dead?

Bookish Agrarian

What if you are a socialist and grow your own food?  I feel so GD left out.  No one is going to let me starve AND I am on the wrong side of Regean's legacy.  Jeez - can't catch a break.

You've got the title wrong; I believe it was "Rugged-Lass Shat".

By the way, "scott stuart", is that an Irish name?

Oh me me me. I did!  I was 15.  It rocked. Loved it. It made so much sense at the time.

Then I grew up.

Aww come on, let him be, the jokes thread has been quiet of late.  And about thanklessness, here's a little insight regarding the South Americans, and other ingrates:

A Tapestry of Lies

"The United States supported and in many cases engendered every right wing military dictatorship in the world after the end of the Second World War. I refer to Indonesia, Greece, Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, Haiti, Turkey, the Philippines, Guatemala, El Salvador, and, of course, Chile. The horror the United States inflicted upon Chile in 1973 can never be purged and can never be forgiven.

Hundreds of thousands of deaths took place throughout these countries. Did they take place? And are they in all cases attributable to US foreign policy? The answer is yes they did take place and they are attributable to American foreign policy. But you wouldn't know it."

And just so you know, when the revolution occurs, any day at all now I'd expect, and we finally achieve the unchecked power that we've been seeking all along, we'll be coming for all of you muuuahhhhahahahaha.

I found 'Secret History of the American Empire' a really good read as far as US involvement in South America goes.  Better than Atlas Shrugged atleast ;)

"Taking from the productive and giving it to the non-productive benefits no one, as evidenced by our current global economy."

You know, on second read...[yeah, I know, but good humour needs to be savoured these days, whereever it is found], he's not all that far off the mark. Productive being the workers, non-productive being the parasites of industry and commerce, makes sense doesn't it? A good start I'd say. Give em a few weeks here and he'll be singing solidarity forever.

Oops, sry Fidel....

If only it were true that you'd leave socialists alone, but that lie is the reason you capitalists have such a bad name in the first place.
