Sometimes the discourse around child apprehension talks about it as if the apprehension is about punishing the parents. "Can't take care of your kids? Fine, you lose them, then."

I'm sure everyone here agrees that it can't be about punishing anyone, but needs at all times to be about the best interests of the children, and best interests, unfortunately, are always arguable. 

This case, of course, the first incident absolutely required a report and intervention.
