Hello all. Been posting for about a week and a half now. Thought it might be proper to introduce myself.
I suppose for a long time I've been interested in ideas surrounding social inequity. I have a degree in economics which I feel helped quantify the scope of a lot of issues surrounding poverty and inequality for me. At the same time it showed me the limits of what numbers and theories have to offer.
After completing a masters degree I gained employment at a consumer guarantee fund for the insurance industry. It's a non-profit corporation funded and directed by the insurance industry to ensure that in the event of insolvency within the industry consumers still have access to money for their claims.
Having been there for the past two and a half years I've come to rabble to try and reconnect to the issues and may be even find a concrete manner to contribute to the improvement of society. That being said my understanding of a lot of issues can be out of date and a bit on the abstract side. Mostly here to learn for the moment.
