Hello everyone,
I just registered today but I have been reading the site for about 4 months. I have only recently become interested in politics, thanks to a great professor that I had this past semester.
I was in a business administration program and, because of his class, have switched to a poli sci major with a native studies minor.
I am an older student, 31 years old. Father of a 3.5 year old daughter and husband to an amazing wife who is supporting me emotionally and financially as I return to school to figure out what my mission in life will be.
I have an interesting background. I am a First Nations Cree from Saskatchewan, we still use the term "Cree Indians" but I guess that might be frowned upon here. My wife is Canadian born Chinese. Obviously, I am concerned with issues of race. Poverty on the reservations, corrupt governance on the reservations and the missing and murdered First Nations women are all also near and dear to my heart.
Prior to going back to school I was selling cars, making lots of money and caught in the trap of constantly trying to keep up with the Jones'. A co-op work term in India really opened my eyes to the things that are important in this life and I now know that money isn't one of them.
Anyways...in my spare time I hang out with my daughter and take in nature on my motorcycle.
I look forward to participating in the discussions.
I hope everyone has a great 2010!
