I'm new here, I'm a conservative from Texas,

Howdy from Texas.

I'm a uber conservative Disabled Veteran with high Christian morals and cannot stand all the proggressive PC crap that is running this country into the ground.

I love everybody though, even if they are wrong in their views I'd die for them so I hope to make a lot of new friends here.

God Bless You. AaronT

Yea, the misspelling of "progressive" is a dead giveaway.

Howdy AaronT,

Welcome to babble! I hope you'll enjoy your time here. By the way, GOD is on babble too - you can find Him here. He describes His occupation as "semi-retired; I still do a bit of consulting."

AaronT

Thank you all.

Nope, LOL, thats caused from my medication, I'll have to be more careful with my spelling.

I know what you mean.  People hiding their darn socialist agendas behind all that human rights stuff, going on like they do about health care for everyone, incessantly complaining about people being discriminated against based on their gender, race and sexual orientation.  They have no respect for the natural order of things.  Certainly Jesus Christ....he wouldn't have had any of that, what with the scriptures being chock full of his fig's leaf approach to the poor and marginalized of his day.  We should be more like him...that'll teach em.

skdadl

Aaron, I'd be interested to know what happened to you -- while you were serving? -- if you feel you want to tell us.

The thread title reminds me of the beginning of some shaggy dog stories.

Close?

Or keep open for the humour aspect?

I can't decide.

Could always move it to Banter...

Have you ever been kidnapped and tortured by American special forces?

Does the medication make you forget how to spell correctly O_o

That's insidious.

Welcome to Rabble! Your secret right winger ring is in the mail!

Sorry, I didn't mean to make assumptions - it's just that GOD is a model railroader (according to Their babble profile), and statistically that weighed heavily in favour of a male. My bad.

Yes, I'm still coming to terms with issues after he showed up here.  Both santa and the two lobsters called Esmeralda and Keith, who I had previously thought were bearing the world through the cosmos within their giant pincers, shot to hell the moment he arrived.

hi aaront - im new too.  i was born in TX but moved away.  i guess im a middle road libertaian.  i like God, guns and country.  so far folks here seem to be fairly quick to assume, even faster to judge and dont seem very tolerant.  not sure what i expected as this place is bit left leaning based on a bit of lurking, guess your lucky not to get dog piled with an intro like you used.  see you around.

Stargazer

Perhaps you should have read the Policy Rules prior to signing up. There are a ton of right wing sites for you to be intolerant on. It always amuses me when the right speaks about the "intolerance" of the left.

here's the deal with us - there is no need to tolerate intolerance.

Complaining about this site is like me, a socialist, going onto a Republican board and complaining there are too many right wingers. I like Rabble just the way it is.

adricmorwen wrote:

Actually, there's little left to assume with such openness in admitting an every person for themselves, dog eat dog view of the ideal society, an adherance to the mythology of space fairies, a love of guns and nationalism to boot.  The only assumption, and it's a bit of a stretch really, is that underneath all that you're a misunderstood individual who just wants to hang out for awhile.

Lard Tunderin Jeezus Lard Tunderin Jeezus's picture

...the only thing funnier than the assumption that the left somehow hasn't heard views from the rabid right is the assumption that Canadians are interested in advice from their cranky Yanqui cousins.

adricmorwen

i like it just fine too - it was just an observation.  sorry if it offended you.  was it the holding up of the mirror that was so offensive?  not trying pee in you cherrios.  just expected a bit less harsh retoric from folks who are sposedly tolllerant and all.  i guess getting called on it really isnt fair.  see ya around.

Stargazer

AW, so you really just came here to bait and annoy people. Nice! Are those conservative "values"?

Seriously, what was your point in joining up here? If your sole reason was to give us "the other side" well the "other side" has their say all day on the radio, the TV, and pretty much everywhere I look. This is a space for lefties to discuss issues from the left. Not to debate the very principles we hold.

Sorry if you find that "intolerant". I'd love to bet you 1000 USD that if I popped on over the FreakDumbinion and started a thread on how intolerant the right was, I'd be tossed out in a second.

What was offensive was that you thought you would get free reign to post right wing drivel on here.

George Victor

He'll go far (in Texas) that one, seeking "tolerance 'nall".

But please don't stop with the greetings, please.  This has been the best thread since the late George Carlin. :)

I like Santa and the world-bearing lobsters. If that's a new religion, where can I sign up?

Maysie Maysie's picture

Ok, I'm back again.

Seriously, Aaron, I got this from your profile page under "interests":

Quote:
Serving God, Computers, reading, flying, and the furtherance of conservative values and standing up against PC liberals who are going to be this county's downfall.

And while this is simply lovely, and while this is the internet, rabble.ca is a Canadian-based site, where most contributors on babble are Canadian. Bookish outlined pretty well what is, in fact YOUR country's donwfall and it sure as heck ain't "liberals".

And if you're calling me a PC liberal, them's fighting words. I'm a feminist anti-racist thug. (T-shirts are coming soon, by the way.)

Oh, and the babble policy is as follows. If you can't abide by it then your time here will be very very short. Y'all have a nice day now.

Quote:
babble is NOT intended as a place where the basic and essential values of human rights, feminism, anti-racism, and labour rights are to be debated or refought. Members that join babble who indicate intentions to challenge these rights and principles may be seen as disruptive to the nature of the forum. Such members may be warned, have their accounts suspended, or banned altogether. Repeated attempts to provoke conflict, bait or taunt will not be tolerated. Continued participation on these boards is at the sole discretion of the moderators and staff of this site.

Bookish Agrarian

With respect Aaron what is driving your country into the ground is the angry right- represented by uber-twits and complete hypocrits like Rush Limbaugh and others and the greed of economic elites.  If Amercia actually lived up to the ideals embodied in your consititution and the teachings of Christ it would truly be a great country, but since your country has abandoned both in favour of a small-minded, xenophobic world view your country will continue to slide into a greater and greater divide between the haves and the have nots.

Also if the so-called Christians in your country actually took the time to read the words of Christ and what He was talking about you would be embarassed to use Him to validate your hatred and intolerance.  (reflected in terms like 'PC crap')   Christ as a man consorted with prostitutes, the poor, the outcasts of His society.  If Americans really were the Christains they proclaim 'high Christian morals' would be about enpowering the powerless and meeting those who are without with open and loving hands, not a closed fist shaken in thier face.

Low christian morals is where it's at.

When you say die for them do you mean push them out of the way of a speeding bus?

Is loving people even though they are wrong a typical christian thing?  Sounds very comforting.

Hugs to you down in texas

In terms of my putative gender, relate to me as you will. It's all good.

KenS

I always knew those people who said 'there is no God' didn't know what they were talking about.

Just like Santa Claus- I see lots of them.

One of my Texas relatives once called me a tool of the devil, and successfully explained to me that isn't the old fashioned notion of needing to protect himself and his own from me... that it is simply a genuine concern for me.

That was educational. And kind of sweet. And while we wouldn't have a relationship any more if he held to the 'old fashioned' notion, the new fangled compassionate one doesn't change anything else.

In case the opening post has been forgotten, there's a dotted line to there from what I just said.

You may have just unintentionaly got off on the wrong foot, but thats not an opening that is going to encourage 'peaceful and open'.

Its WAY over the top to call the replies you got 'hate filled.' They are indeed pointy. But no more so than your opening post.

re: Aaron's spelling.  Let he who is without sin himself cast the first scone.  (that gender exclusion was intentional.  Skdadl doesn't make spelling mistakes.)

Hey Aaron, could you please direct me to all these hate filled responses?  As a moderator I'd like to know.

Also, I don't know what you mean by liberals, but the left will be all about peace after we've won thanks.

Thanks AaronT, for the offer to die for everyone. Are you speaking about yourself post-military or in general? If it is the former then I think it is a noble albeit problematic claim. If it is the latter, I think you should question how holding a gun contradicts such a statement.

It isn't necessarily a contradiction.  I tend to view it as a proactive enabler in light of the altruistic introduction, requiring less preparation time.  Fortunately, no one around here appears easily tempted by the offer thus far.

Well, I think we all know very well where (and at whom) guns get pointed by soldiers. It could be perceived as an altruistic offer, but I don't think there needs to be any unnecessary suffering for the sake of babblers. Plus, I don't think the offer of sacrifice is ingenuous if the individual is quick to commit symbolic violence against the very people he or she lays down his or her life for.

Hate-filled?  I can't speak for anyone else, but my reply was a direct counter-point to the comments you made.  Not a single bit of hate in it.  Sadness at your abuse of the lessons of Christ and your misguided claim of what is damaging your country, sadness and a bit of forlornness at your country's failure to live up to its rhetoric, but no hate- none at all.

Regardless I wish you the best in your struggles with your health
