I thought liberals were peaceful and open.
And I thought conservatives stood for freedom and democracy. Who is Texan Ken Hayes, and why is he in prison?

Aren't conservatives on the left wing of the texan political spectrum?
tee hee....they ran away years ago to AZ.....
Again I will ask here: why the engagement with him, and why the lack of just closing the account and/or threads, as opposed to the questioning and chastizement by mods, are we pretending interpersonal communication is possible, once Aaron has defined who we are and who he is from a quite apparent position of believed supremacy on his part?
Or do some really think he can be made to see the "progressive" light?
Or are some merely amusing themselves because of their own supremacy issues?
I gather Aaron is a Gentile, but I'm prepared to let him stay notwithstanding any privilege he may be burdened with on that account.
On a more serious note, if Aaron is polite, I see no reason to mock him in advance, although I do reserve the right to mock God mercilessly (after all, look at what He hath wrought...).
My only hesitation is Aaron's apparent detection of "hate" where I have seen only good-natured fun and curiosity. Perhaps, through faith and prayer, he can overcome those feelings.
Again I will ask here: why the engagement with him, and why the lack of just closing the account and/or threads, as opposed to the questioning and chastizement by mods, are we pretending interpersonal communication is possible, etc. etc., etc...
Gee, I don't know; is Aaron an alien life form with whom no communication is possible? As far as I can tell, he hasn't said anything to warrant banning. On the contrary, he's being refreshingly forthright.
Dude, or dudette, I don't get this micro-management style of yours. Scram.
Yeah I just told GOD to scram. Nyah nyah.
I stumbled upon God's facebook page the other day. About 3,000,000 fans. More than the onion ring.
Oh really, nothing untoward at all in his posting, like his telling us we are hate filled and stating that "progressives" (useless labelling term notwithstanding) meaning us, are ruining his country and he is a "uber" (read neo Nazis) conservative.
His very first statement indicates he is challenging the first premise of b/rabble rules, no challenging first principles of "progressive" positioning here...
As I stated, it appears to be sheer amusemental mocking on the parts of those who apparently believe they are superior to him...
remind, sadly there is no pre-emptive banning.
I wish.
But that nasty Mr. oldgoat, Mr Senior Moderator (like, whatever dude, rolleyes) says it's my first (paid) month on the job and who do I think I am? Frig.
But seriously, we cannot ban someone unless they write something bannable. While Aaron's stated position is not compatible with what babble is, he's yet to say anything bannable. The "hate-filled" comment that he made about comments is incorrect. Similar if I said "why did you just say the sky is purple striped remind?" If there's no indication you ever said that, clearly the issue is with me.
And ok, this thread is a bit of fun-making and I will own up to my immature enjoyment of it.
remind, sadly there is no pre-emptive banning.
I wish.
At the risk of sounding like Caissa, isn't that a bit, er, immoderate of you?
Isn't this thread a great opportunity to demonstrate our tolerance and peace-lovingness?
al'Q:

Oh ye of little faith in other babblers motives. Superiorty indeed. To be sure, Aaron isn't making introductions as an official representative of the uber-christian conservative movement, so in that respect there's little gain in expressing collective outrage to mark his arrival, complete with a petition of grievances for all of the human misery that has been wrought under it's various banners. The amusement you see is a form of bowing to the absurd, when nothing else, no explanations, convincing, or rationale, such as we might put forth, will accomplish anything in the face of uber-righteousness.
Was just watching the deer munching around the yard, and apparently one was munching where it was not supposed to.
Another deer sauntered up to it, brought its hoof up in the air and tapped the other on the hindquarters with it.....the other deer kinda ignored the hoof on the butt tap, and kept on munching, so the other deer again raised a hoof and tapped the other on the butt, and a tap both times it was.
The 'tapped" deer stopped munching there and went over to apparently be the sentinal, and it was the others turn to eat. A changing of the guard if you will... in wild animal life. Amazing to see.
Jeez remind, you didn't have to bring forward a reminder about the existence of truly loving sentient beings. (he says, enviously)

ETA: perhaps suggest pre-emptive at your next staff meeting maysie, save a whack load of moderation wages...
Ya well george, in the midst of all that loving watching the deer, BC hydro showed up, just down the road, with their basket truck, scared the deer away and then shut the hydro off, just as I was editing the post to make sense.
Course did not know what scared the deer away until my hydro went poof and I went to look at the transformer down the road.....one would think they should warn you there were going to be repairs
LOL slumberjack "bowing to the absurb" indeed....
GOD is a model railroaderCool. I wonder what is the Chosen Scale.
After creating the universe, building an HO scale town must be pretty relaxing.
I used to build model railroads but when I moved to the coast in 1995 I sold off almost all my stock. If I could find the space, I might take it up again.
Howdy from Texas.
I've visited Texas (Dallas, Fort Worth) and I have a friend still there. It was unbearably hot for me. I continued my travels west to New Mexico and Arizona - New Mexico is probably my favourite US state, I love the place.
If I could find the space, I might take it up again.

A relatively meaningful observation about the lone-star state.

I'm back and everything is calm, I'm glad for that.
I Love Texas too guys.
I had a neighbor lady who was from Canada and went back every year to go Muskie fishing.
There is some beautiful country up there, I'd love to visit there some day.
The "hate filled" remark was off and I apoligize for that men.
Anyway a little bit more about myself.
I love to fly, I used to fly ultralight airplanes and want to get back to it some day.
I have soled in a Cessna 150 and a Citabria.
I can't pass a physical for my PP anymore so I'll have to get my SPC or stick to ultralights.
Are there any flyers here?
I am quite sure that I can fit in here.
I'm not as rough around the edges as I used to be.
And I'll try not to post when I'm in a great amount of pain, and thanks to the well wishers.
Thank you men, Aaron
Take it you do not like, nor want women's comments Aaron?
Spinal cord injuries are very painful, wish you decreased pain in that regard.
You'd best include the women in your thank-you, Aaron, or this is going to be a painfully brief peace.
p.s. Grew up fishin' muskies on the Pigeon River around Omemee, Ont. Your Canuck acquaintance knew her fish, for sure.
That's pretty close to me George. I can't imagine there being muskies there today. I think the river's shrunk a bit.
At least half of this board's members are European-style social-democrats, but more like German social democracy than Swedish social democracy, such as Doug.
Next come the Blairites, such as Stockholm.
Next come Marxists, such as myself, N. Beltov, RosaL, KenS, etc.
Tied near the bottom are class-struggle anarchists like Kropotkin, Genstrike on the one hand, and Canadian Liberals on the other.
You won't find any here supporting the Democratic Party much, since the remainder are propertarian "libertarians" like Sven, and odd American conservatives like yourself.

It's always been canoe water, OG. Particularly above Brown's Bridge on the Hogback, going up to Cross Creeks.
wow, trying to slot myself in that there pigeon hole grid, and think I must be in Sven's slot.......

A thoroughly fascinating ranking.
AaronT, there are a lot of ultralights and pilots here on the Quebec coast, and they all built their own. If I can figure out how to post a personal photo here, I'll post one under construction.
I'm not a pilot, but wish I were.
And a sincere apology to the women also.
Boom Boom, we'll figure it out and I'll post a photo of me in the Geezerhawk flying NE of my local airport.
Flying is one of my favorite things to do.
And once again I thank those who wish me well concerning my neck.
And for anyone who has fished for Muskie's, would I be correct in guessing that they'd put up quite a tremendous fight?

My mistake. I'm thinking of Pigeon Creek which runs by my brothers place over by Janetville. It's smaller, you know, being a creek'n all.
Aaron, I have actually flown a Cessna 150. Not unlike flying a shopping cart. Used to skydive way back in the day and we were around small airplanes a lot. This was back when parachutes were actually round.
Legendary
I fished for pickerel (aka walleye) when I lived near North Bay. Delicious when pan fried. I've seen muskies in huge fish tanks at the old Ottawa Ex when it was held in Lansdowne Park in the 1960s. Big fish they were, and I've heard that they are a real handful. I've never landed anything larger than rainbow trout and pickerel. Rainbow trout are probably my favourite fish meal, I always ordered it at the Old Fish Market Restaurant in Ottawa's Byward Market.
Here on the coast we get fresh caught Atlantic salmon, mackerel, shark, and a rather large fish I can't remember the name of, and all kinds of shellfish, and especially snow crab, which is delicious.
I've been up in many kinds of bush aircraft piloted by friends, from single engine Otters to Cessna 182s, all of them dating between 1948 and 1967, landing with wheels, skiis, or floats. This is bush pilot country where I live. One of our coast legends, Bob Bryan, flew in Ted Kennedy for a weekend of fishing near here, I'm guessing that would be 20 years ago. Ted Kennedy was a major financial contributor to the Quebec Labrador Foundation (QLF) founded by Bob Bryan, a good friend of mine.

I will always love the Cessna 150, and I shall never forget slipping the surely bonds of earth for the first time by myself on July 6, 1991.
It was magical, and the porsches were racing on the heliport below while I made two touch and goes and then a landing to a full stop.
I was very proud.
But the best flying is in a conventional gear (tail dragger) off of a grass strip.
The grass is so forgiving, if you get a little sideways you just slide across the grass.
Flying and fishing, screw the politicsand get me a Guiness while I pull up a chair to listen to tales of muskies putting up a fight, the excitement of landing with a round chute, etc...
And talking of sea food, while in Bosnia I enjoyed the best king crab I've ever had.
Each segmentwas at least 10" long it seemed, and pretty thick.
I'd pull a piece of meat out that was big around as aoll of nickels, it was great.
I'm partial to old DeHavilland aircraft, myself. (our regular aircraft here in a 1970s DH Twin Otter) Wish I were a pilot.
wow, trying to slot myself in that there pigeon hole grid, and think I must be in Sven's slot.......
I didn't know you had similar politics, to be honest. I thought you were more or less a Canadian Liberal.
I'f I ever get a chance to ride in a Beaver I'll be happy from then on.
I fly in the latest flight sim quite a bit and make video's, the Beaver is one of my favorites, although I haven't made a video with it yet.
I just did a video of a song I wrote, I'd like to share it here.
I had a very abusive childhood and grew up with kids who were also abused, I wrote this song about some of the abuse I witnessed and added a slideshow.
I sang while a friend strummed the guitar, I am not a singer, I can stay in tune but thats about it.
But I have a cheap mic, so its not the highest quality.
But the words and message are what matters most.
And everyone love the melody even if they can care less for my singing, LOL.
Is there a place on this site that something like that would fit in?
But I'd be very nervous, hoping that you would like the song.
Single-engine Otters and Beavers are real workhorses here. I don't think there's any comparsion to the thrill of taking off and landing in a floatplane. My first trip in a bush plane was in 1995 in a beautifully restored old yellow Cessna 182 with floats, here on the Gulf of St. Lawrence, and I've been addicted ever since.
ETA: I've been up (as a passenger) in open-cockpit WWII trainer aircraft at the Museum of Aviation at Ottawa's old Rockcliffe airport, buzzing close to the Parliament Buildings in 1994. What an awesome experience that was. Since 9/11, I think flight patterns have been changed to avoid the nation's capital buildings.

In "right-brain babble" there are a couple of categories it might fit into. Give it a shot there.
Are there any flyers here?
I went up to commercial license, then ran out of dough.
The biggest I've flown is a Piper Seneca. I haven't flown since 1998.
The most fun was the Katana DA-20.
--------
I've found out via Facebook that my American cousin(s) became a fan of both Palin (Sara, not Michael) and Glenn Beck. I thought that having Canadian relatives, and a Canadian mother, would give her some perspective. Or some sense. I guess I'll have to go down and talk some into them.

This is a joke, right?
Yes.
This fellow is a troll in sheep's clothing from another forum. He came over to see how long he could "last" before being banned. Wrestle with this pig and you will just end up covered in manure.
Sincerely,
Chelsea the anti-troll
Yeah, must have bought a friend as well. Two sporting neo-con creds showing up the same week trying to be nice as pie. Not all that difficult to detect a foul wind drifting in from the sty.
Oh, Al-Q. I wouldn't call pre-emptive banning "immiderate." Unprogressive would be a better descriptor.
Laughs galore, for a bit.
Well, we did engage in an interesting conversation about fishing and flying, I enjoyed that.
Well, we're almost at 100 and I'm closing this.
The mirth, apparently, is over.
