In January 2011, a fruit vendor Mohammed Bouazizi set him self on fire and died in Tunisia because he could not find a job.

He 'sparked' a revolution or so called Arab Spring across Middle East and North Africa.

Journalist Liz Sly made an observation on the Arab Spring by saying this:

"Assad has now outlasted 2 Egyptian presidents, 2 Yemeni presidents, Ben Ali, Gadhafi, Maliki, Qatir's Emire & Saudi king"

"Arab Spring" has numerous disappointments

After four years of the phenomenon once optimistically dubbed the Arab Spring, the changes that have roiled those lands seem to have validated Robert Penn Warren’s quip that history, like nature, rarely jumps–and when it does, it usually jumps backward.

RIP Arab Spring?

A spring-loaded Spring perhaps.... As always Cui Bono?

He is the mother of all least worst options.

I am not sure just because he's lasted longer than the other worst makes him THE WORST

The plan, as revealed by Wesley Clark, called for the united snakes to topple 7 countries in 5 years. Syria is on that list, therefore Assad. The plan calls for Syrian regime change so they can move on to do Iran after. Which is another reason why Putin is the top of their shit list. He blocks them in Syria. If one reviews the Syria threads from the beginning, it becomes pretty clear where they were headed. Barking mad-dog Israel fears the US under Obama is tiring and not up to completing the shopping list. Netanyahu's upcoming address to Congress is designed to reinvigorate the plan, not to mention helping Bib get elected again in Israel.
