Keystone XL rejection leads TransCanada to sue Obama administration

"TransCanada has filed a lawsuit against the Obama administration and plans to file a claim under the North American Free Trade Agreement over the U.S. government's rejection of the company's proposed Keystone XL pipeline."

So I guess that means that not even the Alberta NDP can argue they need the Kinder Morgan pipeline. The construction of both pipelines would be a death knell for the planet from the climate change reaction.

U.S. judge blocks construction of TransCanada's Keystone XL pipeline

TransCanada's $10-billion Keystone XL pipeline project has suffered another setback after a U.S. federal judge blocked its construction to allow more time to study the potential environmental impact.

The Great Falls Tribune reports U.S. District Judge Brian Morris' order on Thursday came as the Calgary-based energy giant was preparing to build the first stages of the oil pipeline in northern Montana.

Indigenous and environmental groups had sued TransCanada and the U.S. Department of State after Nebraska authorities approved an alternative route to the one TransCanada had proposed through the state.

The groups argued the U.S. State Department violated several acts in issuing a presidential permit for the pipeline without a proper environmental assessment of the changed route....

Good. But given oil prices have sunk through the floor an easy give. Expect a nice initial little flurry of such  'goodies' from Biden, (Joining the Paris Climate Accords, is another,) the better to cloud the eyes and distract liberals from other unadvertised  and less pleasing initiatives to come.

Who knows, regardless of what QAnon says, maybe Biden will have a successful presidency!?!

Compared to Trump how can he not have a successful presidency.

Meanwhile, Kenny is flipping out. :)

Indeed he is. And there's going to be a court battle over his plan to let Australian coal mining companies hack off mountain tops to mine for the dirtiest energy source of all time. Hey Jason Kenney, the 19th century is calling you. They want their filthy destructive industrial practises back.

The firm behind the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline officially terminated the project on Wednesday, months after President Biden moved to halt the controversial pipeline and 15 years after the political wrangling over its fate began.
