When I lived in Dresden, ON, I (sort of) worked at a race track. I didn't work FOR the race track, but I worked in a food truck on the other side of the fence -- serving jockeys and trainers and owners and others from the barns. This was "harness" racing, where the jockey rides in a sulky or "bike" behind the horse, but I'm sure a lot of the same stuff went on. It's probably not good for any animal when humans decide to bet money on that animal. As soon as there's money to be had or lost, the animal's welfare is sure to come last.
