Uh the Washington Post did the right thing and fact checked the story and ultimately found it to be bogus. Prject Veritas James O'Keefe is an infamous provocateur. I'd like to smack his smug face.

And what is with the agenda of this thread becoming like Breitbart. Opinion pieces from Faux News? Really?

The thread started about Roy Moore and now it's become a non-stop attack on Democrats. I think NR is in reality Steve Bannon.

Mr. Magoo commenting on the WAPO story of false accusation:

When I read this, I was again reminded of a great scene in the HBO prison drama "Oz", years ago.

That was interesting. I was reminded of Karl Rove and his taking down of Dan Rather by use of a phony story. I don't know that it was ever explicitly shown to be Karl Rove behind it, but it sure had that smell.

"Trump’s approval rating in Alabama sits at 52 percent, according to the poll, while 43 percent disapprove of the president’s performance."

In the second place, part of the accusations being launched against him is that he kissed a woman suddenly without her knowledge or prior expectaion, so there is physical contact. Just the fact that he wanted a scene where he kissed the woman I find quite ridiculous, not being able to understand why it was so important to him.

Here I agree with you. I really believe all kissing should be removed from movies, television, and theatre. After all, it is nothing more than some man wanting to kiss some woman.

Kind of off topic, but do you think that female viewers would support that change?

Afterward an aide asked the Governor why, when he so clearly had the facts on his side, he even bothered to indulge that inmate with a press conference rather than just ignoring him, and the Governor basically replied that now, if he's accused of something else (implied: something he might actually DO) that accusation will be tainted by the memory of this obvious scam.  Genius, really.

This basically sums up why Trump exists. Very short related video.

Could a Democrat Actually Win the Alabama Senate Race?

Can you not tell the difference between 2 people agreeing to take on roles they know in advance will involve kissing and a man just randomly trying to kiss a woman? I'm not a woman, but I can imagine that if I was, and a man wanted to kiss me outside of a context of potentially dating said man that I would be very creeped out.

Will Alabama do the right thing?  For the first time in its history?

Probably not

It looks to me like the polls from Birmingham came in first. Jones started off the night with a lead of more than 20 points and is now slightly back of Moore. If that trend continues, then it is not good.

Alabama election: Doug Jones scores stunning win over Moore

Democratic chances of winning the Senate are now up to 48 percent at PredictIt — up from 32 percent 24 hours ago. To do some quick extrapolation, they’d probably have fallen to about 25 percent if Jones had lost. So this one race makes the difference between the Senate battle being a toss-up and Democrats having only about a 1-in-4 shot, according to betting markets.

DAVID WASSERMAN 10:28 PM

Damning statement from Senate Leadership Fund CEO Steven Law: “This is a brutal reminder that candidate quality matters regardless of where you are running. Not only did Steve Bannon cost us a critical Senate seat in one of the most Republican states in the country, but he also dragged the President of the United States into his fiasco.”

I’m going to want to do some more thinking about whether the GOP would have been even worse off if Moore had won. And I guess my initial instinct — after seeing this play out in practice instead of thinking about it in the abstract — is “maybe not.”

But it depends to a large extent on what the GOP does. If they use this as a wake-up call, perhaps they can make a course correction before 2018 (or at least before 2020) that would help them in the end. It’s hard to make that course correction when you still have President Trump in office, however.

So Red Andy, the answer to your question is absolutely yes.

With Jones winning by less than the write-in margin, one wonders whether there’s a Trump tweetstorm soon to brew against Alabama Sen. Richard Shelby, who said he couldn’t vote for Moore and wrote-in another candidate instead.

I haven't been this happy to be wrong since the night Valerie Plante won.

The GOP should have been able to win Alabama with a stuffed pig as a candidate. Perhaps the election of Donald Trump was the inflection point heralding the end of right-wing political lunacy in the United States.

Very nice to see Steve Bannon with egg on his face. He should crawl back into his hole.

Cody87

Doug Jones won by more than a %, but Roy Moore did not concede. I just caught the end of it but he basically said "go home, sleep on it, and we'll look at it tomorrow."

Not that there's really any Trump people here, but anyone who criticized Podesta's very similar language last election and doesn't criticize Moore for the same is a giant hypocrite. You lost Moore, accept it and move on!

Course correction to what? They created the monster they needed but now they no longer have control. Social conservatism is dying. It will never be rolled back in North America. Gays will never be back in the closet. The Republican party is split. There is nowhere for it to go other than deregulation and tax cutting both of which would/will worsen not improve economic conditions. In a weird way Trump is the ideal President because he is proof of just how hollow American politics and democracy has become. When's the last time you heard the President called "the leader of the free world"? America has been exposed across the world as the emperor with no clothes. They elected a buffoon to lead the country. The people revolted and refused to elect the woman who would stab them in the back in favor of the man who will stab them to their faces.

The fixers did this in the afternoon. Now it is Moore who is pinning his hopes on a recount, or as he calls it, god.

Well, it's certainly the best news on the political front from the USA in over a year.

I apology,Alabama. You're not quite as ill as I thought. A 'fuck you' to Trump and Bannon. I hope this is the thrend through 2018. It would be funny if the Repugs lost it's power in the house, senate and presidency. It would give me intense pleasure to watch Bannon slither back under the rock located under the outhouse, where he's from.

I'd literally die from the ecstasy I'd get if Trump was impeached, forced to resign or die from a heart attack from all the fast food shit he stuffs his face with all day ,the 12 cans of Diet Coke he drinks everyday and his raging tantrums he has watching  TV between 4 - 8 hours a day.

And this 71 year old man thinks Sanders would be a stereotypical senile elderly person while being only 2 or 3 years younger in 2020. Plus Bernie can thread together a coherent sentence. He'll expose Trump's stupidity for all the world to finally see.. Those who still support this maggot..The Evangelicals are way too far gone,no hope there  at all.

josh

Great win.  Surprised, but not totally since the polling was all over the place.  Jones win made possible by a strong black turnout.  97% of black women voted for Jones.
