There are at least two neo-Nazis here; one who waved a swastika flag at a May Day demo in Parc-Ex, one of the most multiethnic neighbourhoods in the city, from the roof of a condo building accessible only to condo owners, administrators and workers and an even more dangerous P.O.S., who calls himself Zeiger and has been involved with murderous neo-Nazi groupes in the US.

I didn't see that film as I avoid hyper-violent films unless they are depicting an actual historical event. But the premise annoyed me greatly, as seeing USAmericans as some kind of superman saviours is almost as obnoxious as Nazi "scientific racism" is. Why couldn't the Jewish heroes be people from the actual countries and communities that were being persecuted and mass-murdered?
Yes, of course Nazi supporters who were not personally anti-semitic deserve no reprieve. Probably the most famous was Benito Mussolini. He had Jewish friends and at least one Jewish mistress. But his late war alliance between the most fanatical fascists and the SS saw mass murder of Italian Jewish communities, and of course torture and murder of partisans. At least two friends (now dead, but of reasons linked to old age) fled Venice to Switzerland when they had death warrants out for them. One was 20, the other only 17.

The American-supremacism in a lot of World War II films IS arrogant and annoying-and I say that AS A YANK. Then again, the insistence on calling the wars "World War I" and "World War II", a form of labeling which implies that the 1914-1918 conflict, A.K.A., "The Great War" somehow didn't matter as much as the conflict in the Forties, as if the millions dead in that war were not as important as those lost in the next one, as though the second war was ONLY won by the Allies because the U.S. joined in-which has been a standing insult to the USSR/Russia whatever anyone thinks of the leaders of those countries, and I personally think of them as nothing but murderous bastards.
It also brings to mind the Firesign Theatre line, on one of their records, where they refer to the 1939-45 conflict as "the war your mommy and daddy fought to make you possible".

Travelling to Europe, in every village you see monuments to a horrific number of people, mostly men and mostly young or very young men - or teenage boys - slaughtered in the so-called Great War, which led directly to its sequel. Recruiters weren't as fussy about birthdates then - more than a few were only 15 or so.
