The longest running (and lowest rated) soap opera in the Canadian left is that the electoral NDP and movement-types don't always get on. That Naomi Klein would choose to endorse @AndreaHorwath today is pretty darn significant https://www.thestar.com/opinion/contributors/2018/05/18/we-can-stop-trumpism-from-coming-to-canada.html … #onpoli

But will it be in time?
OPP investigation launched into 407 data theft linked to PC candidate.

Except that the Liberals will be wiped out, that is for certain.
PC candidates skipping debates across Ontario are 'hitching their fate' to Ford's brand
'I've never told them not to go to a debate,' said PC Leader Doug Ford

That's one way to poach the k00K vote from the Greens.
I doubt the 407 Investigation will be concluded by election time so what happens if the PCs win a majority say by 10 seats and then a month later 25 of their winning candidates are charged?
"Fustercluck 2018", followed by The Ford Nation Revolt.
I’m not a Liberal fan but why do you feel the need to rub dirt in their face by repeating the same thing over and over again.
And secondly this election is far from over.

And if the PCs have a majority government I suppose they could somehow kill the 407 investigation All the more reason to ensure they don't win a majority government

Sounds like the 407 issue is just the icing on the cake!

Ontario PC vote fraud allegations are bananas — and disturbingly plausible
An astonishing number of partisans seem willing to tolerate this behaviour — the way it’s always been, you know? In a general election, people would go to prison

Really? Cody87 & Sean in Ottawa (among other) here keep calling me a Liberal cheerleader, while you are saying I'm rubbing it in their face.

I never said that. As a matter of fact, I think you're a PC supporter who is concern trolling.

That is a new one, I can assure you I'm not a PC. In fact I'm absolutely terrified that Ford might win, and donating to several campaigns to stop him, like Lead now.
Sign the petition! 29 PC candidates need to RESIGN. The actions they're accused of erode people's trust in the PC party, this election, and democracy. Force all candidates alleged to be involved in questionable activity, from bribery to data theft, to step aside immediately.

Hopefully with pressure from Lead Now, the PC vote might be pushed down in theose 29 ridings, allowing either an NDP or Liberal to win, thus hopefully Ford won't win.

Just how far can Andrea Horwath go?

Here's an interesting chart, from a Global News story.
I saw that chart and it is misleading. Of course Wynne is going to campaign in ridings she already holds - because she has a majority of the seats and she needs to keep them.
And of course Horwath is going to go into ridings she doesn't have - because she has the fewest and needs to win new ones!

Yes, this is exactly what I thought when I saw the chart.

Yes, that makes sense once it is pointed out to the slower witted of us. Thanks.
Oh I apologize, I wasn't intending the post as a critique of you or yours in any way. I had seen the image somewhere else first.
I apologize if my post was interpreted that way!
NDP Leader Andrea Horwath said the NDP fiscal plan will be running a bigger deficit (by $1.4 billion) in year 1 than originally thought.

A honest politician - how refreshing!
With NDP momentum building, Horwath looks to conquer a Liberal stronghold in Ottawa
With new polls looking rosy, the NDP has set its sights on eastern Ontario

It's not often that I'm on the same page with North Report here, but I agree this is an oustanding response. Made a mistake, own up to it. Nicely done.
And all she has to do in the debates, if pressed on it, is turn around and ask Wynne about her response to the auditor general.

One thing Horwath could do is commit to expanding the high-speed rail project to Windsor to also extend to Ottawa. That would give the economy of Eastern Ontario a shot in the arm.
This appears to be an extensive survey, eh!
Entering the long weekend, the PC lead evaporates as NDP momentum builds.
This table gives us a good sense of who is winning the campaign thus far. The Tories are holding onto much of their support, the NDP is converting undecideds and attracting some Liberals, while the Liberals are leaking support to the NDP and undecided category.

Where's the explanation, though?
Owning a mistake is, surely, a good thing. But why the mistake? Bad math? A faulty calculator? I wouldn't mind hearing them say "this is why we originally thought that wrong thing, and why that won't happen again".
They put $700 million in the wrong column on their costing spreadsheet. It was in the revenue column, instead of the expense column.
While the reserve fund was budgeted at $700 million, moving it from the revenue column to the expense side doubles the fiscal impact to $1.4 billion. By law, all governments must set money aside in a reserve account for contingencies.
Question: We have already seen the Liberal party tactics federally during Harper's reign, so if the PCs end up with the most number of seats, but not a majority government, what assurances do we have that there will not be repeat performance by the Liberals?
Answer: None
Therefore: Voters know who to vote for.
Second place party could 'win' Ontario's election
http://rabble.ca/news/2018/05/second-place-party-could-win-ontarios-elec...
When your leader takes a day off with 20 days to go while down 20 pts in the polls, then campaigns where u won 4 years ago by 34 points, you are conceding this #onpoli . My 17th fed/prov elxn and I’ve never seen a party give up like @OntLiberal is giving up right now.

This would also be a very powerful way to give the ONDP some uniqueness definition character etc etc!
the ONDP did this before with the 407, but that one got black balled by Harris and never fit well with the ONDP for several other reasons. But high speed rail I believe will make a better fit!
