Of course, it is foolish to think that Trump owes the Russians because they helped him get elected. What is obvious from the evidence is that the Russians helped Trump get elected because they already owned him.

The information operatives who worked out of the Internet Research Agency in St. Petersburg not only sought to pose as American social media users or spread false information from purported news sources, according to new details.

They also created a number of Twitter accounts that posed as sources for Americans' hometown headlines.

NPR has reviewed information connected with the investigation and found 48 such accounts. They have names such as @ElPasoTopNews, @MilwaukeeVoice, @CamdenCityNews and @Seattle_Post.

Many of these emails and documents were posted during the 2016 campaign by three separate entities. Two of those — “Guccifer 2.0,” and the DCLeaks website” — were created and controlled by these GRU officers from Russia’s intelligence agency, Mueller alleges. The third, WikiLeaks, got the stolen DNC emails from these GRU officials (and, eventually, the Podesta emails), but isn’t being charged with anything — it is referred to as “Organization 1” in the indictment.

I've just read most of the full indictment and skimmed the rest. It looks pretty detailed and technically credible to me. Unless they are just making shit up, they have some very strong evidence for the charges, though it is unlikely any of these accused will ever stand trial in the U.S. By the way "Organization 1" is Wikileaks.

The overwhelming portion of that video doesn't address the validity of the charges(which is the topic of the post it accompanies): Chomsky says the world is cracking up because it's hypocritical of the US to condemn alleged Russian meddling when the US does the same thing. Only at the very end does he say, without explanation, that most of the charges "have no basis".
