Canada's very own Foreign Affairs Minister, Chrystia Freeland is a Conspiracy Theorist!

Here is what she had to say today about Jamal Khashoggi's murder:

“The murder of Jamal Khashoggi is abhorrent and represents an unconscionable attack on the freedom of expression of all individuals,” Freeland said in a press release.

“Canada continues to call for a credible and independent investigation. Those responsible for Jamal Khashoggi’s murder must be held to account and must face justice.”

In the meantime, she has placed sanctions on 17 individuals
she believes are complicit in her conspiracy theory:

Are you trying to argue that it's inconsistent to criticize, say, 9/11 Truthers as conspiracy-theorists, because we recognize the concept of conspiracy in regards to criminal undertakings(such as the murder of Khashoggi)?

If so, that's one I've heard before, and I think it plays sleight-of-hand with two different usages of the word "conspiracy". I can agree that, say, a group of people might conspire together to rob a bank. That doesn't mean I can't consider it a priori ridiculous when some someone advances a "conspiracy theory" in the sense of alleging that the orientation of power behind the scenes is radically different than what you would assume from everyday observation, eg. the Catholic Church controlled both Nazi Germany and the USSR.

I think we all recognize that when two or more people plan some secret bad thing, that's a conspiracy, and those have happened. But it's syllogism-grade "logic" to then so "so therefore 9/11 or Sandy Hook or Boston Marathon are also conspiracies".

When I read Chrystia Freeland's statement today I immediately rubbed my eyes because I thought I was reading:

“The murder of 3000 Americans is abhorrent and represents an unconscionable attack on the freedom of expression of all individuals.

America/Canada/the world continues to call for a credible and independent investigation of 9/11. Those responsible for the murders must be held to account and must face justice.”

No obsessing here about anything.

Two things jumped off the page for me earlier today when I read Chrystia Freeland's
statement.
1. She solved the crime! She is so confident (Lord knows how) that 17 Saudis were complicit
in the alleged murder of Khashoggi that she has placed sanctions them! Good job Sherlock.
2. The wording of her statements were so inviting.
“Canada continues to call for a credible and independent investigation. Those responsible for Jamal Khashoggi’s murder must be held to account and must face justice.” Hmmm..... something a little more important that's worth an independent investigation?

The truth is that we know next to nothing about what happened to Khashoggi.

Yet she has jumped on the bandwagon, and pulled 17 Saudi names out of her a__.
Just how does she know these Saudi's have conspired about anything?

I feel I should clarify my position on this as there seems to be some confusion as to what I am actually trying to say here.

The CIA poisoned the term "conspiracy theorist" in the early 1960's by using it to bully, intimidate and ridicule anyone not buying into the U.S. government’s fabricated 'lone-gunman' JFK fairy tale.

Since that time news media worldwide have adopted the CIA's stance, using the term "conspiracy theorist" to knock anyone who doesn’t regurgitate any official government position on murders committed in the international theater.

Even when a murder is clearly the work of a conspiracy, the pejorative term "conspiracy theorist" is still used, rather than simply “theorist”.

Generally speaking I am sympathetic to so-called “conspiracy theorists".
I think people should have the right to voice their opinions and not feel threatened or cowed by those with political or financial interest.

With my OP I simply wanted to put the shoe on the other foot, so to speak.

We have a murder case now of international concern (Khashoggi).
Facts are few and far between. The story keeps changing on an almost daily basis.

Yet our Foreign Affairs Minister, Chrystia Freeland has taken it upon herself to have solved the crime!

A conspiracy likely did take place.

It is Chrystia Freeland’s theory that 17 Saudis are complicit in the conspiracy and she feels so sure about her theory that she decided impose sanctions on these 17 individuals.

Why should anyone take offence to calling Chrystia Freeland a conspiracy theorist? Because technically that’s what she is at this stage.
