Like the Israel lobby in Canada, with which it is connected, the Ukrainian ultranationalists usually get their way here. All three parliamentary parties are represented on this committee.

Hyperbole aside, Vladimir Putin's global adventurism in support of his unpopular domestic policies are the concern, not "the pleasure of hating Russia".

Please recognize in yourself that the Russian people are not "hated", rather they are pitied for being saddled with a murderous thug and authoritarian wanker.

Consider the geopolitical threat Canada faces. It is not too far fetched to assume Putin making moves in the Arctic, sure that the self absorbed Euroweenies will hide in the washroom and Trumplethinskin demanding Alberta in exchange for coming to Canada's aid.

Canada's only option will be to send out a Mountie on a skidoo to offer courtesy emissions inspections and then surrender.

Lavrov Vows Russia Will Not Wage War Against Ukraine

'They advise him to keep low intense combat actions to enable them to go ahead with propaganda that Russians are carrying out an offensive against Ukraine..."

Blocking Nord Stream 2: To Fight 'Russian Dictatorship', US Dictates To Europe

https://journal-neo.org/2018/12/19/blocking-nord-stream-2-to-fight-russi...

"Rarely is irony and hypocrisy so thoroughly combined as it was when the US House of Representatives passed resolution 1035 - 'Expressing opposition to the completion of Nord Stream II.' By passing this resolution, the United States presumes to dictate to all of Europe who they can and cannot do business with. And while the resolution itself is 'non-binding', the resolution admits it: 'Supports the imposition of sanctions with respect to Nord Stream II under section 232 of the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (22 U.S.C 9526).

The Nord Stream 2 pipeline circumvents Ukraine through which Russia had previously shipped natural gas to the rest of Europe. The Russian Federation, and before it, the Soviet Union had for decades reliably supplied Europe with natural gas through Ukraine. It was not until an openly US-backed putsch swept the elected government of Ukraine from power in 2014 and transformed Ukrainian foreign policy into being openly hostile toward Moscow, that gas flow was jeopardized, prompting Russia to pursue alternatives - including Nord Stream 2..."

He [Whelan] is now the head of global security for BorgWarner, a Michigan-based auto parts supplier. David Whelan who lives in Newmarket Ont, would not comment on why he thought Russia had taken his brother into custody. 'I think it's too complicated to come up with a simple answer. I think there are many reasons, and it could be completely arbitrary. Our goal is to get him home,' he said."

Those "pro-Russian" websites are just the gift that keeps on giving. From the Saker article linked at MOA...

The great internal tension caused by the need to control huge, heterogeneous geographic areas, and by the constant participation in the thick of geopolitical struggle make the military and policing functions of the government the most important and decisive. In keeping with tradition, they are not hidden but, quite the opposite, demonstrated. Businessmen, who consider military pursuits to be of lesser status than commercial ones, have never ruled Russia (almost never; the exceptions were a few months in 1917 and a few years in the 1990s). Neither have liberals (fellow-travelers of businessmen) whose teachings are based on the negation of anything the least bit police-like.

So, if we wanna be good progressives, we need to oppose rule by businessmen, because businessmen don't appreciate the pivotal role of the police and military in governing society. And liberals are bad too, because, as "fellow-travelers" of the businessmen, they try to stay away from "police-like" endeavours.

Lots of comedy gold elsewhere in the article, too. He tosses the epithet "cosmopolitan" in there somewhere, but I don't have the wherewithal to find it right now.

Well, he doesn't actually use the word "rootless", so I'm being generous and assuming that he means something like "too comfortable with foreign cultures" rather than "Jewish", for whatever that distinction is worth.

Looks like I might have been a bit too generous in interpreting the Saker's intentions...

The Christ-hating Israelis are at it again

About a bit of pop-art "blasphemy" that was on display in Israel.

Funny thing is, the article even admits that the artist isn't Israeli, and that the ISRAELI GOVERNMENT wanted the piece taken down, but still ends up wailing about how Christians are a real oppressed group in Israel.

Er, they are. Not by a blasphemous art installation, mind you, but there's a sizable Palestinian Christian community that lives under the same oppression Muslims do. Israel's love affair with white evangelicals from North America doesn't at all extend to any rights for its domestic Christian community. Which isn't to endorse the contents of that article at all, just to point out that Western Christians who wail about the oppression of Middle Eastern Christians in Muslim countries generally plug their ears when someone mentions what's happening in Bethlehem or Nazareth these days.

voice of the damned

Yeah, I know there are Palestinian Christians, and that they are oppressed. But, for the most part, they are not oppressed qua Christians, but qua Palestinians. They could all become atheists tomorrow, and they still wouldn't enjoy any more rights than they do as Christians.

This is how the Saker ends his article...

Bottom line is this: if it is anti-Christian, then even a BDS-supporting goy will get his 15 minutes of fame in the “only democracy in the Middle-East”.

IOW, the Israelis are even more obsessed with hating Christ than they are with opposing the boycott of their country. (And yes, I know you're not endorsing the article, I just wanna make it clear what the guy's agenda is.)

Update:

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday signed several balls into law penalizing “fake news” and reporting that “exhibits blatant disrespect for the society, government, official government symbols, constitution or governmental bodies of Russia.”

Media outlets and private citizens who share content that Putin’s government deems “fake news” or disruptive to the status quo could face penalties of up to 1.5 million Rubles, the equivalent of $22,900.

Offenders may also face incarceration.
