Conservatives Nuclear Option To Bury Justin Trudeau Once & For All

They are "hinting" that they'll drop a BOMBSHELL in tonight's debate about Justin Trudeau time teaching at West Point Grey Academy. Alluding there was an alleged sex scandal that prompted his departure. See press release below

Conservatives are doing this not because they hope more people will vote for them. They want to create voter apathy by suppressing the vote, and make people so disgusted by Trudeau, that they would just stay home. Because the lower the turn-out, the better chances the Conservatives can win.

So will it work, and that Conservatives can finish off Justin Trudeau once and for all?

Sean in Ottawa

Probably not. People are very concerned about the Conservatives as well and the Liberals probably have dirt there as well. Perhaps good for the BQ, NDP and Greens but I think Trudeau may have lost more respect and admiration that votes  and that may continue.

The reason I say this is that so much fake news is circulating that even if there was proof supporters probably will not believe it.

NorthReport

This reeks so badly of Fake News.

This could backfire and give Trudeau a boost.

This rumour about why Justin Trudeau left his job at Point Grey has been swirling around Twitter for a couple of days.   Honestly, I think it's clear that JT is just a smarmy rich frat boy leading another ruling class party that plans to do nothing of importance if re-elected.   Whether the rumours are true or not don't matter that much.

It's crystal clear that the only party leader that is rising in popularity is Jagmeet Singh.

To borrow from another time, "it's the poison water stupid".

Well said.

I think the blackface scandal said less about Trudeau being racist than being elitist -- at the school I went to (I am older than Trudeau) this would not have happened becuase even if one person did not know better others would have told them. Trudeau went to an elite school of out of touch rich boys and then taught at one. He never managed to get in touch himself and shocking as a PM's son did not learn the most basic political smarts as a youngster. The stuff this says about his character is not new to me.

Trudeau's change of social media picture after the scandal broke to show him talking to a Black man where you only see the back of the head (and therefore no identity) speaks to how superficial Trudeau still is.

This press release from the CPC is the oppo drop, I really doubt Scheer will twirl his non-existant moustache and personally bring it up in the debate. It is also presumably all they have. The goal is to get a reporters to ask Trudeau about it in the scrum after the debate, but this story has been circulating for a week and the Liberals have already lined up the school headmaster to refute everything insinuated here so I doubt this rates 1/5th of the attention of Trudeau's serial minstrel performances.

Interesting: perhaps this is not about changing minds at all. Stories like this do not need proof. They are to fire up the base who care nothing for truth. It has anough plausability to do the job. The point is to get the base out to vote not to change any minds.

Each party probably has 1/3 of potential supporters who stay home. The electioneering will focus on this more numerous group more than the maybe 5% of the population who is not decided and if they still decided woudl have to be convinced to vote anyway. I see very few efforts to change minds and more to get people to vote. There are a few people trying to change minds between the People's party and the Conservatives and between the Liberals, NDP and Greens. but this is a small number. The big effort is about getting out the vote.

Meanwhile the Liberals have responded to the Conservatives press release, well sort of

Ottawa, ON – Andrew Scheer has spent the 2019 campaign copying the American right-wing playbook, spreading false information to scare and mislead voters. They released an ad about pollution pricing that environmentalists called “highly deceptive,” spread a conspiracy about a notorious killer coming to Canada, and brazenly branded anyone who isn’t a climate-change denier a “climate hypocrite.” Today, Steve MacKinnon, Liberal candidate for Gatineau, is exposing the latest Andrew Scheer stunt designed to mislead Canadians.

The Conservative Party has secretly registered the website “HiddenHomeTax.ca.” They are planning to launch this new website tonight during the English-language Leaders’ Debate. It repeats a blatant falsehood Scheer has been peddling to Canadians for weeks that there is a secret plan to tax people’s homes. It’s not true, and Andrew Scheer knows it. But just like right-wing American politicians, he’s trying to scare people into believing this desperate stunt.

A re-elected Liberal government will make homeownership attainable and secure. Liberals will give up to 10% off the purchase price of your first home with the First-Time Home Buyer Incentive. We will drive prices down by taxing foreign speculators who buy homes and then leave them empty. We will protect families who are being priced out of buying their first home.

This October Canadians have a choice: go backwards to the failed policies and American-style tactics of the Conservatives, or choose forward and build on the progress we’ve made together.

I first saw this rumour on the interwebs at the beginning of 2018

Elections and politics are a dog and pony show. We have reached thepoint where we dig up as much dirt on a candidate rather than argue your case that your platform is better.

This is Trumpesque.

I can't wait to hear what Stephen Harper's moles have to nuke us all with.

KarlL

I wondered when this would show up here.  It has more than just been circulating for a week: it was the dominant topic on a lot of whackjob conservative discussion threads for days on end, particularly so after Marieke Walsh of the Globe asked Trudeau in a scrum whether he had signed an NDA when he left the school.  He seemed unsure what she was asking initially but then answered "No".

Storyline was that Trudeau had had an inapproriate relationship while there, which morphed on the fora over a day or two into a 17-year old student.  Supposedly Trudeau was fired and signed an NDA (nonsensical, I know, as if it had been true, he would hardly have been the one to disclose it).  Fife supposedly had the story (though he never said so or, to my knowledge, participated at all) and a semi-reluctant victim who might come forward.  Warren Kinsella (the main villain in this) was pumping it day and night and suggested that it was coming out on Saturday in the Globe.  He was positively salivating about it.

But late last week, the former Principal of the school while Trudeau taught there came out and expressly wrote that Trudeau left on good terms, of his own volition in order to go back to school, and was not fired.  The Globe did not publish anything on it on Saturday and you can read five hundred screams of frustration on all sorts of right wing threads, including on some of the Sun's and National Post's.  Kinsella tried hinting that it might come out today and then fell back on something to the effect of "I dunno, maybe somebody got to them".

So moving quickly along, there was a brief but widespread rumour that the Globe had not published at all on Saturday due to an injunction having been obtained, quickly dispelled by people noting that they had received their print copies.

Then the story moved on to threats of libel suits, pay-offs, MSM rewarding him for the media subsidy and the like. The purveyors of the story have tried to keep it alive on comments sections on stories in right wing newspapers.

Basically, a malignant fake news specialist built it up for days only to have it land like Geraldo Rivera's opening of Al Capone's Vault.  They knew that the rumour and the denial alone would be enough if they could break it out beyond the tinfoil hat crowd but so far they haven't really been able to do that.

After seeing all the speculation on twitter about a supposed injunction filed by the Liberal Party, Glen McGregor of CTV News tweeted

"There is zero, zilch, nothing to support claim that any party or leader applied to any court during #elxn43 for an injunction against any news organization. That's it."

Further to the above, you get a bit of a flavour of where it was heading and also former headmaster Clive Austin's letter at the following tweet by Glen McGregor:

I won't dignify the rantings of the disappointed Conjobs on here but they aren't hard to find if you are determined to do so.

It's good of the Conservatives to give so many teenagers their first job in web design.

Kinsella today is also linking tweets that Trudeau privately said that Jagmeet looked like Marg Simpson.

no idea if this is true. what is true is that Trudeau has been repeatedly hypocritical on numerous fronts.

What is certainly true is that Kinsella has not been within earshot of Justin Trudeau at any point in recent memory (bear in mind that he was rejected for the Toronto-Danforth nomination because of his toxicity in late-2014 or early-2015 (the wellspring of all his anti-Trudeau bitterness)) and the NDP leader then was Tom Mulcair.

I think it rather unlikely that Trudeau would have said that about then-Brampton MPP Jagmeet Singh.  So what you have is Warren saying "I've heard it said that Justin Trudeau said..."
