rabble.ca is proud to participate in Internet and movie history, as rabbletv will be one of the places you can watch legendary director Michael Moore’s new film, Slacker Uprising, free on the Internet.

TRAVERSE CITY, MI – On September 23 at midnight, Michael Moore’s Slacker Uprising will be released online at www.SlackerUprising.com. It is the first feature-length film by a major director to be released for free over the Internet, legally.

Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Michael Moore enters the fray of the contest for the White House with his new movie which features his swing state tour in the 2004 election.

To maximize the reach of his message, Moore is adopting a novel approach to distribution appropriate to politics in the age of the Internet: he has teamed up with Robert Greenwald’s Brave New Films and several online video platforms to distribute the movie online, free of charge.

Four years ago, the premiere of Moore’s groundbreaking film Fahrenheit 9/11 shook up the 2004 election. Moore embarked on a 62-city swing state tour to register new voters and turn them out to the polls.

Slacker Uprising documents the most inspiring, dramatic and frightening moments of that historic event. Moore expects the new film to inspire young people to turn out to vote, just as the tour itself did in the last presidential election."Our mission here at Brave New Films is to get out a message of social justice," said Greenwald. "This year, that means getting people to take a close look at what’s at stake in this incredibly important election. You can find literally no better storyteller in the world for that purpose than Michael Moore. Michael is a genius and an inspiration to people all over the country. This new movie is a gift to our nation in this critical moment, and we’re honored to be distributing it for free over the Internet."

"This is being done entirely as a gift to my fans," said Moore. "The only return any of us are hoping for is the largest turnout of young voters ever at the polls in November. I think Slacker Uprising will inspire millions to get off the couch and give voting a chance. This is a gift to my fans, and gifts should be free."

Neither Moore, nor Brave New Films will be profiting from this film. For Moore, on the twenty-year anniversary of Roger & Me, this serves as another chance to get "slackers" off the couch and into the voting booth; for Brave New Films, this serves as an opportunity to continue spreading the message of social justice and change through film and new media.

Viewers will be encouraged to download, watch, burn and spread the film in hopes of organizing, rallying, registering voters and raising funds for worthy causes.

Viewers will have five options for viewing the film, including an opportunity to download a high-quality burnable version of the film. Three options allow viewers to stream the film and two will allow viewers to download the film to their computers.
