There has been a significant amount of new research lately that shows health care in Canada is not offered on an equal basis to Canadians. Health care that is proudly anti-oppressive and anti-discriminatory is necessary for all Canadians, especially those in marginalized groups. Health care that includes implicit or explicit discrimination or harassment against LGBTQ, Intersex, Two-Spirit, or racialized individuals or those with disabilities, mental health issues. This has serious consequences, from both a heath and social perspective.

Luckily, exposing this type of discrimination has made many health providers aware of the problem. Mount Sinai Hospital created this “Are You An ALLY?” campaign, dedicated to providing the health care industry with tools and knowledge to combat these issues and help end discrimination and harassment in health care for good.

Here’s what you’ll find in their campaign:

-Videos with discussion questions

-E-learning tools including sessions and post

-Tips on allyship and acknowledging privilege

-Sample conversation guides and responses to promote solidarity through health care

-Staff programming tools

-Glossary of terms
