Learning about Canadian queer history just got a whole lot easier, thanks to the creation of Queerstory. Queerstory is an app that tracks your location and based on where you are in Toronto, gives you the story of the closest point of interest in queer history. Using archival footage in a mini-documentary style, the app tells the stories about queer art and culture, activism, bars and community.

Learn about the silky voiced gender queer singer, Jackie Shane who added glitz and glamour to Toronto’s Yonge Street music scene in the 1960s or the 1978 police raid of the office of the Body Politic.

Queerstory is available for free download as a mobile web app, or from the Apple App Store and Google Play. All their videos are also free to view on their website.
