These stats come straight from Violence UnSilenced, a space to give survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse and sexual assault the chance to tell their stories. Each week, the site publishes stories from two survivors. Readers can take a pledge to “listen and offer support” as survivors work to become re-empowered.
This type of safe, online community is a real testament to the power of internet organizing. Bringing together readers and story-tellers helps to build community, educate those who might be ignorant about the power of sexual abuse, and allows survivors to tell their stories and have their experiences validated.
