A good scolding won’t do it. Retailing if the U.S. sanctions firms doing business with Iran will.
Iran 3
The Israel air strikes on Iranian targets in Syria is all over China news. There’s fear that these actions are going to impact oil exports from Iran to China.
This feeds into my suspicions that Israel may have a long overdue old fashioned “ass kicking” coming.
In the case of North Korea, North Korea had to show that they could bring the “ass kicking” to Washington, enter the ICBM test with stats similar to the Russian Satan 2 and hydrogen bomb.
In the case of Iran, they don’t need so much punch I believe. But could be wrong?
I suspect they will have to intercept Israel missiles and shoot down Israel jets.
I also suspect that China may now be giving Iran the green light.
Let's hope so..

Ok first off the link
josh turned me on to this group MeK via a link he posted in the Steve Harper thread.
I found it intriguing that there’s some claim to Marxism and socialism. So more links now
https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/para/mek.htm
Rudy “Mr. Say the Quiet Part Loud” spills the beans on the demonstrations:
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/jun/30/rudy-giuliani-mek-iran-paris-rally
The Iran threads have lots of information on MEK , but this one from the Intercept's Mehdi Hasan is a good one:
Here's Why Washington Hawks Love This Cultish Iranian Exile Group
https://theintercept.com/2017/07/07/mek-iran-rajavi-cult-saudi-gingrich-...
MEK is a neocon-CIA-Israeli-Saudi co-production in which this terrorist group becomes the 'tip of the spear' of Iranian regime change. Since this is largely an Israeli project, one can assume it will enjoy tacit all party support from Ottawa as well. See #112 upthread.
I find it to be a real odd that the US supports a marxist/socialist group?!?!?!?
As well, the term "terrorist" or "terrorism" is only a flexible term used to discredit demonize and attack by the west or within western context. MeK was once labelled as terrorists, so by default, MeK does or at least used to demand some kind of credibility at some kind of level.
Now to be fare, the US and India do support communist Vietnam as a leverage to China.
Then there's Mek claims of responsibilty for the protests in Iran. This is important in some way, I'm yet to figure out or see more relevance and logical explanations.
All three of Iran's biggest allies, Russia India and China absolutely do not want Islamic extremists! The US and Israel love Islamic extremism!!!
Something big is going on here, I'm going to follow some suspicions I have.
Ok here's a real powerful link in the ifo department! It has info that qualifies it for several different threads!
https://medium.com/indrastra/how-much-solidarity-with-iran-can-the-china...
Here's another link discrediting the MeK

On the Path to Failure - US Attempts Violent 'Regime Change' in Iran
"The MEK is just a front group, trained by Mossad and financed with US and Saudi money. It is not backed by Iranian people. Since its Islamic revolution in 1979 every US attempt to damage Iran or its allies has led to the opposite effect. Every time Iran emerged stronger than ever before. It is likely that the current attempt will have a similar result."
At this point I'm going to have to agree with you about MeK NDPP.
At first from what I read it seemed odd that a group like MeK would be supported from the US and Saudi. But now I feel that the MeK has transformed into an opportunistic group that probably has a for profit agenda using the Saudi's and US among others to create havoc in Iran and line their pockets at the same time.
Stephen Harper Criticized For Speaking at 'Free Iran' Rally Hosted by 'Cult' Former Terror Group
"...Even among voices opposing the Iranian regime however, the group is controversial for its extremism, cult-like leadership and history of violence. Samira Mohyeddin, a Canadian journalist and vocal critic of the Iranian regime, has called the group a 'well documented terrorist cult who have committed many crimes against humanity..."
Nothing new for Canadian PMs to support terrorist groups in the Middle East. And nothing more violent and terrorist than America or Israel.
I believe Harper is only playing up to Israel. Otherwise he'd give a ratt's ass about Iran.
Iran's allies-China, Russia, India, Pakistan
Iran's enemies- Israel. The US and Canada etc etc are vocal against Iran because their governments are worried about backlash from Israeli supporters in thei respective countries.
But beyond that, Israel is really outnumbered. Iran is the heavyweight in this bout and I can't see the isolation of Iran in the west have any traction or even lasting beyond say 5 years?

Trudeau's Pledge to Re-Engage With Iran is Another Broken Liberal Promise
"Another Liberal broken promise. Before becoming prime minister Justin Trudeau promised to re-engage with Iran. His government has failed to do so and is beginning to echo the warmongers in Washington and Tel Aviv. By breaking his promise to restart diplomatic relations with Iran, Trudeau has enabled US-Israeli hawks - further empowering those hurtling towards a major conflict."

Perspective from China
CCTV4 in China is speculating the possibility of US bombings of Iran starting as early in August, next month!
Ok speculation time (my favorite part of posting)
I believe China India Russia will never tolerate direct US hostility onto Iran. Also here’s some perspective away from oil and more to do with infrastructure development of central Eurasia

now I did provide an perspective separated from oil that does play into all of this. Hopefully there is a move away from oil and gas. We will have a better perspective come December this year
WOW this is a huge turnaround!!!

“I’m ready to meet any time they want to,” he said, adding that he’d do so without preconditions. “Speaking to other people, especially when you’re talking about potentials of war and death and famine,” he continued, “you meet.”
Ya that's what Trump said! Looks like he has made a 180' and the threat of Iran invasion/attack (wasn't going to happen anyways) is pretty much gone now.
But why? Has this guy completely turned into a pece loving hippie now?!?!?! Does he suffer from some kind of disability?
I'm itchin to speculate now on this one but I'd like NDPP and other babblers to jump in with something!

Xi, Putin, and Netanyahu have figured this out.

Netanyahu Threatens Iran With 'All Israel's Arms'

Not sure if your comment is adding any speculation into Trump's comments. Are they indicating a new direction from Trump?
Here's a follow up on Iran's responce to Trump's latest offer for talks
https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2018/07/trump-talks-offer-worthless-irani...
I think the Iranians are making a big mistake here by treating Trump as a rational, adult human being, to be negotiated with according to historical norms. They have evidently not learned much from the success of Kim Jong Un in manipulating Trump and getting something for nothing. If they were more imaginative, they could have embraced Trump's offer of talks, flattered his ass off, and bought themselves years of relatively good relations with the U.S. at no cost.
Ok MM that's a fair comment.
North Korea however is more advanced than Iran when it comes to nuclear weapons and ICBM missiles. And the influence of China I'm sure was huge. So perhaps a North Korea comparison wouldn't be giving much credit to the Iranian approach? Maybe?
Also I'm not aware of anything that the Iranians may have done to get Trump to openly come out that he's open to discussions now? So really, if not kissing Trump's ass has gotten Trump to stop talking about military action and instead lean towards open dialogue, why would they start your approach now?
I'm guessing the other 5 countries that signed the nuclear deal and the EU are giving huge pressure onto the US.
In addition, I think India is pissed off at the US over this. Now this is pure speculation on my part. I believe I've read enough to get the impression that India will find ways to bypass the US sanctions. Nobody gives India any credit around here but I will suggest that the US may be concerned with how much it crosses India.
I'm going to predict that Trump is going to buck and fold over Iran and somehow is going to weasel back to the original deal. Maybe Iran will accomodate Trump so the US does not lose face as you have suggested?
Either way I'm sure we're going to hear more about this in the coming weeks/months that will reveal more.

I hope you're right about this. Unfortunately, people like Bolton, Pompeo and Netanyahu want war with Iran very badly, and they will do their best to prevent any peaceful resolution. You can bet that they were all furious when Trump publicly offered unconditional talks.

Ok let me be a little more clear. This above comment is just a blanket statement that you made. You're not trying to make any guess as to which direction Trump's comments may be indicating the US will move forward in US/Iran relations.
I guess you are not interested in speculating?
