In an interview of Fox, Tulsi Gabbard appears to have suggested that the government of the United States is run by a small elite group of people and that this needs to change.

Does this statement not line up with what the evidence about the US government has shown for years? What does this mean for how we engage in the political system? Are voices truly heard?

Democratic candidate and congresswoman from Hawaii Tulsi Gabbard is an unconventional political figure in this upcoming election that has been turning heads. Whether it’s sharing truths about the Syrian war and the US arming terrorists or whether she was exposing establishment candidates like Kamala Harris, Gabbard is someone who many people are seeing as ‘the only viable Dem candidiate.’

But that doesn’t mean Gabbard has any chance at that spot because as we saw in 2016, the DNC is ready and willing to rig the election to favour controllable Deep State driven candidates like Biden and Harris. After all, WikiLeaks showed us this quite clearly when the DNC kicked Bernie out in favour of Hillary.

Perhaps this is why Gabbard recently stated in an interview with Fox News that “…this also points to a bigger issue and challenge that goes beyond the DNC and party politics, the government itself. There’s people who are increasingly losing that faith and trust in the government because they see a lack of transparency there and they see that we don’t have a government that is of, by, and for the people, and really what they see is a small group of really powerful political elites, the establishment, making decisions that serve their interests and maintaining that power while the rest of us are left outside.”

Lots of people are pro-BJP, including former President Obama. As for impeaching Trump? The Democrats have screamed about that so much since he was elected without even accepting that fact that now that it looks like Trump has done things that are impeachable, the American people don't want to hear about it.

I get most of that, but..."all the progressive legislation she had co-sponsored with some Republican congresspeople"?

From what I know of her voting record, most U.S. Greens (the U.S. party, unlike the Canadian version, is clearly a party of the left) would find her way too conservative for their tastes.

Since Gabbard had entered the race, Sanders has spoken more about foreign policy and it has improved. She has also gone fruther in exposing corporatists in the Democratic Party than Sanders has. Witness her essentially ending Kamala Harris' campaign. Next thing, we need Gabbard on the stage to go after Warren for failing to stand up for Native Americans at Standing Rock.

This could even work out very well for Sanders. She gets to go after corporatists one by one, ending their careers, while Sanders gets to take the high road and bask in the glory for this. I'm not suggesting that this is how the campaigns have been co-ordinated (it would be highly unethical if it was) but that is one possible good effect.

I think most people here have as much respect for the Hindu religion as they do for Christianity or any other religion. Many babblers of course are atheists, as I am. Some atheists have contempt for religions and religious people. I haven't done a poll, but I suspect that most of the atheists here, like me, respect any religion that does not try to forcibly proselytize. I spent 20 years or so when I was young, trying out various religions. Hinduism, along with Buddhism and Taoism are the ones that I regard most highly.

None of this is relevant to the nature of the BJP or the RSS. They seem to be 2 parts of an extreme nationalist movement within Hinduism, perhaps comparable to Wahhabism in Islam. Normal political analysis applies to them, and being opposed to their agenda does not imply condoning the atrocities of the Mughal Empire against Hindus. Perhaps not so coincidentally, the Mughals were killing Hindus in the same period during which european Christians were committing genocide in North and South America. I would bet that nobody on babble is willing to defend either of these horrendous imperial enterprises.

Foreign scapegoating? Since when is it acceptable in leftwing politics to excuse interference by a right-wing authoritarian in a democratic election to elect another right-wing authoritarian.

If you're referring to the claim that Putin interfered in the election to elect Donald Trump, that has been discredited, if that accusation was ever credible. It was just a way for the Democrats to blame anyone and everyone but themselves for losing an election to Donald Trump. This contrasts to the US government, which there is plenty of evidence that the US has interfered with other country's elections for decades.

Even if the information was hacked, it clearly showed that the Democratic Party did everything it could to bias the primary in Clinton's favour while telling Bernie's people that the process would be fair. Those actions should not have happened, and the fact that they did should have become public knowledge anyways. It also speaks to the lack of understanding the DNC had of digital security if that could happen to them. Gabbard herself called that out when she was number 2 at the DNC long before any of this Russiagate nonsense came up. Furthermore, progressive activists, for example Black Lives Matter or water protectors, have already been smeared as possible Russian agents, we're seeing anti-pipeline activists in this country being smeared as foreign operatives, and that is a very dangerous road to go down. Authoritarian societies always maintain their power by finding an outside enemy that they can scapegoat. As things get more intense, there will be far more scapegoating and calling anyone who disagrees with the dominant view as foreign agents, regardless of who disagrees or why. Having enabled the Russiagate conspiracy due to Trump Derangement Syndrome, the left will not have any moral authority to fight against that when their own are targeted much more intensely than they are right now.

Clinton lost the 2016 campaign. Accept that, move on, and do what you can to defeat Trump next time.
