Actually, Mulroney was a leader of the international campaign to end apartheid. He stood up to Thatcher at Commonwealth meetings, and openly opposed his pal Reagan. The UN General Assembly yesterday officially asked Israel to leave the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.

The request was made after the resolution was adopted after 91 UN member states voted in favour, nine rejected and 65 abstained.

The resolution stipulates that Israel leaves all the Syrian Golan Heights occupied in June 1967, stating this is an implementation of the UN Security Council’s resolution.

Regarding the Israeli decision to annex the Golan Heights made on 4 December 1981, the UN said this was “null and void”.

On 15 November 2018, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution asking Israel to stop exploiting the natural resources in the Palestinian territories, including the occupied East Jerusalem and Syrian Golan Heights.

According to the Supreme Court of Canada, Canada must now introduce legislation in Parliament to request Israel leave the Golan Heights.....

An Airbus 320 flight with 172 people on board bound for Damascus, around 2 o’clock tonight (Syrian time) found itself in the crossfire of at least 8 Israeli rockets and those of the Syrian defense batteries S-300. Therefore, he was forced to quickly change course for an emergency landing at the Russian Aerospace Forces airport in Hmeinimi.

The news was released by the Ministry of Defense of Moscow highlighting that the serious danger was caused by the maneuver of the Tel Aviv jets that, starting from the Golan Hights, exploit the airspace of Lebanon and hide behind civilian planes to launch their attacks planes.

A surprise Israeli raid against Damascus suburbs early Thursday activated Syrian air defenses and put a civilian aircraft in serious danger, forcing it to divert to a Russian airbase in Khmeimim, Russian Defense Ministry said.

The civil Airbus-320, enroute from Tehran to the Syrian capital, was forced to make the emergency landing following an Israeli missile attack, the ministry said, denouncing Israeli pilots’ “common practice” of using civilian aircraft as a “shield.”

The aircraft was due to land at the Damascus International Airport, but was unable to do so as Syrian air defense systems engaged hostile targets. The surprise attack took place around 2am local time, with four Israeli F-16s firing at least eight air-to-surface missiles from outside of Syrian airspace.

Tel Aviv is perfectly aware of civilian flight routes and air activity around Damascus, day and night, and such reckless missions prove that Israeli strategists could not care less about possible civilian casualties, Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov argued.

“Only due to timely actions of the Damascus airport dispatchers and the efficient operation of the automated air traffic control system, the Airbus-320 managed to… successfully land at the closest alternative airfield,” Konashenkov added.

That was not the first time Israeli fighter jets have endangered civilian craft over Syria, with Moscow criticizing Tel Aviv for putting two passenger flights in danger during an air raid in 2018. Israel has flown hundreds of similar bombing raids on Syria throughout the country’s civil war, claiming to be hitting “legitimate Iranian targets.”

During a tense moment in early January after a series of Iranian strikes on US military positions in Iraq – retaliation for the assassination of Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani – Tehran accidentally shot down a Ukrainian airliner, killing all 176 people on board. Iran quickly came clean about the incident and apologized, admitting it made a mistake in a time of crisis, fearing an imminent counter-attack from US warplanes.

Another tragic incident in the Middle East involving a civilian airliner occurred in early January, when Tehran accidentally shot down a Ukrainian airliner on the heels of its own missile strikes on US military bases in Iraq, which came in retaliation for the assassination of Iran’s elite Quds Force commander, Qassem Soleimani.

Two weeks ago Bibi floated the idea to trigger his voters getting out to the polls with his passing a bill to give him retroactive immunity on his three felony charges. In his usual pompous manner, he claimed that his 35 seat election victory was the people’s vote that he was innocent, quite a stretch, but Bibi knows no limits.

Gantz was trailing in the polls at the time, so his team was planning what it would do in this case. As it stands now, Bibi seems frozen with 58 seats, three short of the 61 needed to put him in a position to form a government.

It has been all over the Israeli press that the Likuds were shopping for other party defectors to put them over the top, using the usual goodies, like offering them a ministerial position. So far, none are taking the offer.

But Avigdor Lieberman has throw his party’s votes in with Blue and White to give it 62 votes to pass a bill in the new Knesset on March 16th that would ban an indicted MP from forming a government.

Bibi is screaming to high heaven how “undemocratic” that would be, even if passed by a majority of the Knesset, which many would consider the “voice of the people being heard”. The Israelis do not have the American system where the head of state can veto a bill under a two thirds vote.

Blue and White MPs are telling the press that Likud party members are hoping that Netanyahu can be gotten rid of, so Israel can move forward by shaking off their sociopathic Prime Minister, similar to how many feel about Mr. Trump in the US.

Bibi’s first trial date is March 17th; so all of this will be rolled into a momentous two day event which could turn the Israeli political landscape upside down.
