The United Steelworkers is asking a simple question with their most recent report, if the Liberal government is commited to green jobs and to good jobs, why are they empowering Chinese steel to overpower Canadian steel.  The industry employs approximately 22,000 workers, with each job indirectly supporting a minimum of three other jobs.  Environmental protections in many of our steel producing provinces makes Canadian steel a cleaner source of energy.  Using Canadian-made steel in Canada has a carbon footprint of two-to-four times less than international competitors. In contrast, China’s steel industry alone is the source of 50% of the world’s CO2 output.  Read this report and then demand that the government explain, why isn’t it supporting the Canadian steel industry more.
